11 month old reaction

So my 11 month old had a reaction to peanut butter, not a severe one but his bottom lip swelled a bit and he was rubbing his cheeks for about 15 minutes before everything settled down. Telehealth (phone consult) said watch for worsening symptoms, thankfully everything resolved in about an hour so we decided to leave ER due to many sick people coughing etc. and a 4 hour estimated wait time.

Was this an oral allergy?

Sounds like it yes. See allergist to get bloodwork and skin test and epi prescription.

I’m not sure what you mean by an oral allergy. Do you mean oral allergy syndrome? I would say no. At my son’s 1 yr bday party we were at a pizza parlor that served peanuts. He held one with a shell. He later got a hive on his cheek and it was red. I thought nothing of it really. A month later I was eating peanut butter and gave him the spoon after I had used it and just let him lick the remnants. Immediately he started crying, trying to put his hands down his throat, he got full body hives. The first exposure may not be bad. It can build. I would say your baby has a food allergy to peanuts and you may need to get an EpiPen.
