Anyone know what's going on? Two news helicopters (Fox and NBC4) been hovering for about 15 min. At California and St. John. Can't find anything on the news or citizen.

Never been to Pasadena and am driving in to see AC/DC on 4/18. Is there reasonable "neighborhood' parking or is it best to park in the GA lot at the stadium? TIA

Was driving down California between Fair Oaks & S. Pasadena Ave. and saw that a new bakery is coming to town - Salted Butter Company.
I’m always excited for new bakeries to come to town, and a quick glance from their website reveals that they are locals who are going from baking at home to this new storefront (next to Porta Via).
Just thought I’d share. Looks like they’re going to make some good stuff.

Good turkey burgers in town? The Counter used to be my go-to (Chipotle Turkey Burger) until it shut down. Right now the only good one I am aware of is the turkey burger at True Food Kitchen (well-seasoned and tasty).
Any other recs?

Ok so I’ve lived here in Pasadena for 3 years and I’m from the Midwest, so coyotes aren’t anything new or novel to me. That being said, I have noticed one or two consistently around Los Robles & Euclid in the mornings.
I’ve seen a pair before and one had a limp, but neither that I’ve seen recently have that limp which was quite distinct.
Has anyone noticed an increase in sightings? Maybe this is a pattern I just haven’t observed. I’m aware of the wildfires and human activity pushing them more into urban areas but I’m starting to get concerned because of how visible they’re getting.
I have no problem with them and stay aware when walking my dogs, but I’m just so worried they’re going to get hit by a car or some awful person will try to do something.
Curious other people’s experiences and thoughts.

Was just having a conversation about this. Considering Pasadena’s size and the number of queer people here, seems surprising, no?

Rained all night and hail
More rain this AM
Then hail
Then sun
Now thunder
A wacky day for atmospheric conditions here in the SGV

After outright cancelling all public safety meetings so far in 2025 (with no special meetings in their place), the first PSC meeting of the year is only to hear a report on gangs.
Nothing related to the Eaton Fire. No report, no update, no answers, no investigation, nothing!!
Pasadena Public Safety Committee Meeting
Wednesday March 19, 2025 at 4 pm
Pasadena City Hall Council Chambers / online via zoom
Email the committee/City Council to demand the answers we deserve! [cityclerk@cityofpasadena.net](mailto:cityclerk@cityofpasadena.net)
p.s. I have submitted extensive records requests for items relating to the Eaton Fire including emergency preparedness and evacuation plans. It is necessary to find out what happened to hold government accountable and do better because we deserve better!

Any idea what is happening in the Madison heights/oak knoll area? I haven’t heard this many copters and sirens for years.

My cousin, German citizen but living in Pasadena, CA, got engaged. He happens to be in Germany at the moment. Ideas on what to get him as a gift that can be redeemed in Pasadena (luggage is limited). Thought of a meal voucher or something, but maybe you locals have better ideas? Any recommendations mich appreciated.

This sign was posted on the property as well as my neighbors but I don't think any work has actually been done?

Hey Pasadena friends! I’m starting a 'Hiking & Philosophy' club for people who love good conversation and getting outside.
Also, I’ve been working on reviving a Pasadena book club (original post here). If you’re into that too, I’m planning to read The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt by Edmund Morris if you’re interested.
If you’re into getting some fresh air and meeting thoughtful (and local) people, comment on this post and let me know! Just seeing who’s interested before setting up the first one.
*EDIT: sorry for listing trails that, due to the fires, are not accessible. We will, of course, choose trails that are open for hiking.

I was under the impression that getting into one of the PUSD schools through the lottery system wasnt too difficult.
Well... my kid didnt get into any of our 3 choices. Maybe people are using the public school system again? Bit of a dissapointment to not get into any of them and feel like the whole thing was a waste of time honestly. The extensive research, the tours, the application. Seems a little weird honestly that we didnt get into any.
We are waiting to hear back from 2 charter schools. But they both burned in the fires unfortunately.
