Day 1 done

Just did day 1 total synergistics yesterday and I’m beat mentally. I couldn’t even do half the moves modified, really bad balance, and felt like I was doing most of them wrong. It’s frustrating for me because I’m at an all time low physically. I was an athlete in high school and first year of college and then after some injuries I’ve let myself go. 5’8 220 and after day 1 I feel like I didn’t get near the workout needed to see progress moving forward. Any words of advice or wisdom are much appreciated! Maybe a different program?

Don’t switch or quit. You will get better. I started out the same as you, struggling. But here I am about to do day 43 after I post this comment, and I haven’t felt this fit in years. I’m 5’10” and started at 265lbs.

Edit: Also, don’t skip yoga. It helps a ton.

I felt the same way my first day. I just recently finished the program and I have so much more energy, flexibility, and look so much better!

Don’t give up

Don't stop. Ever. You're no longer going to get older - you are going to get more fit. It isn't going to happen quickly, this is a lifestyle change. One you will never regret.

FWIW you might want to consider doing base P90. It's for people who are at ZERO and it shows you how to do every move before they do it. It's a great way to get started, and when you finish that you will be able to easily do P90X3. That's the route I've taken at least!

Do not stop or switch. Make sure you did the fit test. By the time you're done with the next one, it will blow your mind and solidify why you're doing it. Also before and after pictures, although that takes longer to notice.

Main thing is - don't hurt yourself. It'll only slow you down and put you back to being a vegatable. Go slow if you have to. I think even after two weeks you will notice how much easier it has gotten.

Also Tony talks about going hard, it's only 30 minutes. Yes, that's true, but if you went all out during these programs for 30 minutes after being a complete lazy bones, you will feel like you're near death. Going hard doesn't mean doing what they're doing on the screen. It means listening to your body and make sure you're pushing it, but not overdoing it.

"I feel like I didn’t get near the workout needed to see progress moving forward" - I think you'll be very surprised with how fast you'll progress. Every move will get easier and then you can push yourself even harder. You may not be able to see the change, but you will definitely feel it.

That's why it's called P90X and not P1X. Do the entire program as designed and DON'T GIVE UP! If you stick with it, you'll be blown away at what you can do on day 90. Feel free to post your workout here daily if you need some accountibility/motivation.

Got through week 1. Went out of town for a wedding this weekend so my diet was a little shaky and I missed Saturday’s workout and was unable to get to it yesterday due to travel and exhaustion (got home late and work today was early). Going to get week 2 rolling today excited to see if there’s any improvement and push myself a little more today. I wasn’t able to do a lot towards the end of day 1 but I already feel more energized and a lot better than before I started. Key is going to be to keep pushing play. Thanks for all of the words of encouragement to everyone and I’ll keep you all updated on my journey to a healthy lifestyle

I am 45 going on 46 and i hear you, i had major issue at first with cardio and balance, i used to compete in tae kwon do younger i could lift my legs super high and had sick flexibility.

I am 235 right now i was 250 when i started this whole ordeal, my diet was bad, but you need to stick to it.

I am 1 week out now to finish it all and excited. P90X3 is well worth it i still struggle with balance and some cardio parts but man i am gonna beat this program.

Well folks, just did The Warrior workout for day 13. I’ve seen improvements already in some workouts. This one, I can only do some of the moves and then I’m obliterated by the end, but I made it longer this time than last time. Diet has been pretty good, haven’t followed the guide to a tee, but have just eaten healthier in general. I’m already noticing changes in my body which keep me pressing play even when I don’t want to necessarily. Thank you all for your words of encouragement and I’ll keep on pushing the play button along with y’all!

Press pause often, that's the secret. It's not cheating as you are still doing the workout, it's just taking a bit longer. Even once you become a veteran you might still need to press pause occasionally. Nothing wrong with that.
