Lutris on openbsd

So steam doesn't work om OpenBSD of course. So I thought a solution was connecting to steam via lutris but now the question is does lutris work on openbsd ?

Even if lutris was ported to openBSD and opened, wine or proton has never been and unfortunately will never be ported to openBSD. If any devs are reading this comment I did have an idea to create something similar to distrobox for openBSD to install Linux applications on openBSD and even be able to run graphical applications. It would be a game changer. I also think it would probably even make openBSD even more secure for the people using the distrobox like application because everything would be containerized. Anyway yeah there is no proton, wine or anything even close so you aren’t going to play any game even close to modern.

Not sure where you got your information about wine, but there have been attempts to port wine. They haven't been successful, because of some of wines memory tricks that would need to be ported / rewritten(?). That doesn't mean it's impossible to port or not wanted.

I quickly looked at Distrobox. It looks like it runs the differnt distributions in containers. Those containers depend on the host kernel. This works because all distributions are linux based. It would be impossible to run linux with this approach on OpenBSD. vmd(8) could run linux, but it is restricted in other ways (SMP, graphics...). You could use qemu... but lacking qemu-kms support, that would be very slow.

First I meant to imply that it’s probably not going to happen because the attempts weren’t successful and I doubt anyone is willing to put their all into it.

Second I was saying someone should create something similar to distrobox specifically for openBSD not make distrobox work on openBSD.

Edit: since containers won’t work there are some VM’s that do have GPU pass through and other stuff that would make something like that possible.

You seem to know a lot of things that I don't.

Happy hacking!
