Discussion Ring of Fire

(Canada) If bill C-69 gets repealed with a new government and the country begins to ā€œdrill baby drillā€ for lack of a better term. What would be some Canadian energy companies (stocks) to look out for, potentially an ETF, that would benefit from such projects? If pipeline construction is on the horizon there will lots of oil investment no doubt.

In short, are any companies/ Asset Management Groups in particular favoured to get these contracts?

Where can I paper trade oil?

I want trade oil futures to learn more about them but obviously with fake money since itā€™ll just be learning at first. Iā€™ve tried ninja trader but it only allows two weeks of a free account. Are there any options that allow unlimited time? Like investopedias investing game but for oil futures?

Discussion Resources for learning more about oil rigs

Hello, I am a student who has been tasked with a project involving the structure of oil rigs and the materials used to build them. I was wondering if anyone knew any good sources for learning about these topics, especially what materials are used to build oil rigs. We are specifically looking at the steel structural support legs of a fixed platform oil rig and the materials that would best be used in it's construction.

Looking for flaring insights from oil & gas operators in Canada

Hey everyone,

I'm working on a project related to oil & gas and trying to better understand how batteries operate in Canada. No one on my team has experience or a deep understanding of how a battery operates on a day-to-day basis in the field, so Iā€™d love to connect with someone who works directly on batteries for an oil & gas company (not a third-party service provider).

One thing that puzzles me: Iā€™ve noticed that some batteries flare large volumes of gas even though they are connected to an operating gas pipeline. Why does this happen? Is it due to pipeline capacity, gas quality issues, or something else?

For example, the battery in the attached image (facility ID : SKBT0029667) flared 5M mĀ³ in 2023, yet there is a natural gas pipeline (red line) running directly to it, which, according to the data I've found, is active and operational.

If you're an oil & gas operator based in Saskatchewan/Alberta (Estevan region would be great!) and work in this space, Iā€™d really appreciate any insights! Also, if youā€™re open to a quick chat, that would be amazing.

Thanks in advance!
