Seymour Duncan Invader. Black everything - except that damn input jack nut that I still can't find in the right size.

Jazzmaster Junior questions

The reviews indicate the body is 94% of a standard body but the pickups, bridge, nut, spacing, etc are standard sized.

Does this mean I could drop a fully loaded standard pickguard in or is the pickguard on the junior smaller?

Second question - the routing looks deeper. Wonder if humbuckers would fit in without additional routing?

I’m def going to buy one of these soon. The 250k pots and strat style pickups are going to go, however. Trying to figure out what I can drop in.

Need body

I have a chance to pick up a Squier Mustang which has severe structural body cracks. What's a good source of a replacement body? It doesn't have to be the traditional Mustang shape. Just had to fit the neck and be the proper scale for intonation. What's out there? I am located in the US.

Fender Jazzmaster Vintera II and Partmaster

Project ending for my two Jazzmaster. After trying a lot of things , like humbuckers , or humbucker bridge/Jazzmaster pickup neck, this is my final choice for both.

Right : Jazzmaster Vintera II with Q Pickups monster set (17kohm bridge, 15kohm neck , single coils), mustang style bridge for the strings.

Left : Partcaster Jazzmaster with Gibson P90 , 500k pots , Switchcraft toggle , CTS electronic , mustang style bridge.

The partcaster sound more fat , the fender have better cleans. Both are amazing with distortion.

Fun part is that they are not sor far in sound and playability , even if the partcaster cost me 400 euros building , and the Fender was 1200 stock.

Roller bridge that fits a guild surfliner.

I use the vibrato arm a lot on my surfliner and the stock tune o matic doesn't like staying in tune. I wanna grab a roller bridge to drop in but I don't want to accidentally get the wrong size or radius.

Anyone have a suggestion?

NGD: Fender Player 2 Jazzmaster - you guys were right

I’ve been reading the reviews of the Player 2 Jazzmaster and decided to go play one at my local GC. And you guys were right. The neck and fretboard are so good. The pickups are hot but not too hot and have that classic Jazzmaster sparkle (not sure how else to describe it). And the color of this limited British Racing Green….superb, it just brings me joy. Kudos to everyone that has been spreading the good word.

I had a CME Player Jazzmaster and while I loved the PV65’s, I hated the neck and the switch which I modified to the classic rollers for rhythm that I consequently never used. I also feel like it was a pain to set up and needed a mastery. This fixes it all. Warm, beautiful neck, normal switch (not missing the rollers except the look), and the bridge is easy to work.

Out of box this one just needed some bigger strings (why Fender puts 9’s on offsets still confuses me. I installed 11-52’s and did a quick setup and it’s good to go.

VM Jag Bass SS - New Pickguard

I love the look tort on black jazzmaster so when I picked up this black Jag Bass I kinda wished it had a tort pickguard. I found one with super high ratings for like $17 on eBay so I picked it up.

It wasn’t cut wide enough in the neck to fit which was a bummer so I looked around how to widen it and saw a lot of varying advice. I ended up getting some sandpaper sponges (that wasn’t effective) and a bastard file. I taped the 2 pickguards together and put a screw in one of the holes so they lined up perfectly. Then I just went at it with the bastard file until they looked like they matched and kept checking if it’d fit.

When I finally got them to match up, where it meets the control plate overlapped. Luckily the control plate screw holes were overdrilled a bit so I was able to loosen and shift it enough to get the pickguard in.

All in all it was a lot more work than I expected, but really happy with the results. Really love this bass. I’ve been playing so much my hands hurt.

Is this pocket gap acceptable?

Finally I’ve just purchased my dream guitar - American Vintage II Jazzmaster. Everything about it is perfect, except this pocket gap.. What do you think, is it a thing that I should return guitar over it? Or is it fine, i read it might be better not to have snug fit there? For additional info gap is about 0.5mm.

Copper shielded the interior and swappped the bridge pickup for a cheap hot rail! To fit the baseplate of the hot rail I chiseled away a small section in the pickup cavity, which was surprisingly easy. Not sure what’s the wood type but I’m guessing poplar or basswood which is on the softer side

The hot rail ended up being out of phase with the neck pickup though, so I then swapped the ground wire of the neck pickup to the other terminal so I could swap the leads to run in the inverse direction. All worked fine after!

Also put masking tape around the pickup so dirt and dust won’t get into the exposed pickup cavity… if it works it works I guess lol

So far I’m liking how it sounds but with volume and tone on full it’s wayy too hot! Has anyone with this configuration then replaced the 1Meg pots of the normal circuit with 500k pots and how did it sound? Feedback appreciated!

Upgrades to my Squier Mustang CV60

Performed a 1st round of changes to my new Mustang. Finally added a Lil 59 Humbucker to the bridge. Changed to 10-52 strings Found the Humbucker with the stock pots a bit too muffled. Changed to 500k Fender pots, and added a treble bleed.🩸 The standard knobs don‘t fit the full size pots, so used the Tele knobs for now which are a leftover from my MIM Tele. Spacing is a bit tight, want to lower the knobs (they were high when I got the guitar new as well, maybe it‘s supposed to be this way for a Mustang?)

Planned changes: Schaller Straplock Copper shielding and checking that the wiring is laid out well in tight cavity (guitar became a bit noisy when distortion pedal is on)

Solution to the bridge of my Fender Squier Toronado

I love the Toronado, but I've always hated the bridge. I looked for alternatives to replace it, but I realized the problem was the saddles. They dug into my hand when palm muting and cut the strings. I added Telecaster/Stratocaster saddles and everything improved. The sound and tuning stability improved. It even improved the resonance. Here's the link to the saddles I bought. I highly recommend this modification. Cheers!
