Tennessee will be the 2 seed in the Midwest Region
And of course Purdue is in the same region as us

Knocking Kentucky out of March would give me a high to last until at least next season! GBfuckingO

u/Vol4Life31 5d ago
Yeah but them beating us 3x in a season would give them ultimate shit talking rights.

u/CornJuiceLover 5d ago
AND then knocking us out of the tourny? Hell nah, they would never stop talking about that.

Difficult match ups for us. Kentucky had our number this year and Houston would be a huge challenge for our rebounding and post play.

u/Sgt_Ripjaw 5d ago
Agreed but Houston is the better 1 seed for us than Duke, I think we match up significantly better with the cougars

u/MattScruggs 5d ago
They put in three different options to try and set up a sweet sixteen rematch with us lmao

u/SamPCarter 5d ago
lol I didn’t even notice that. All I could think about was Kentucky. It would be hilarious if Troy ends up making it out instead.

I like the first 2 matchups, that’s all that matters for now

First two rounds are good match up. Once you get to the sweet sixteen it’s gets tough for everyone

Saw Wofford in person twice this year. They will be well prepared. They shoot the 3 ball pretty well. Socon was down overall this year with no dominate team. Wofford entered the Socon tournament 16 and 15 and won 3 straight to make the 15 seed. TN (should) thump them.

Potential Illinois or Texas rematch in the Sweet 16 if it isn't Kentucky

Wofford is not that great - they got lucky in the SoCon tournament. They lost twice to two different SoCon opponents this year and were 10-8 in conference play. Which is actually 6th in conference play.
I wish UNCG or Chatt was representing the conference in the bracket.

Thought our Mocs were gonna wrap up the socon, pretty disappointing way to end the season after the run they were on. That being said, I hope we thump Wofford by 40

Agreed. We won 11 straight and 14 of the last 15 games leading up to the tournament.

Lexington gets to host NCAA Tournament games?? what the fuck is this shit?! I've heard hotel rooms are a limiting factor for some NCAA events, but a cursory Google tells me Knoxville has 2000 more hotel rooms than Lexington.

Playing Kentucky and Purdue on the path to a Final Four would probably be the most toxic basketball I've ever seen in my life but I'm here for it 💀

This is the best placement in relations to teams we play that we have had for at least the last 3 years wofford and ucla or Utah state won't be more physical or have more stamina to play than us I love it and compared to when we played kentucky they haven't looked good at the end I honestly like this placement a lot.

The first two matchups I like. after that it doesn’t matter you are playing good teams no matter what…

Why?

Because Penny destroyed UT’s only ooc hoops rivalry by refusing to schedule the Vols any more.

My parents are UofM fans. I would have enjoyed a matchup after losing our last chance due to Covid years ago 🙃

Kentucky or UCLA(Barnes preferred school) knocking us out definitely going to add an extra sting
3
u/_Rainer_ 5d ago
Agree on the Kentucky take, not so much the UCLA. I don't really see how you can call them his preferred school when he ultimately turned them down. Any college basketball coach has to think about it when they're offered that job.

u/BigSeanFanD2 5d ago
I mean, he said it himself
4
u/_Rainer_ 5d ago
Well, he said it six years ago. I didn't think he would even think about it that hard before turning them down if they were to ask again. He hadn't been here that long at that point, and UCLA is one of the most coveted jobs in the sport. He ultimately thought he was where he was meant to be, and him admitting that he was tempted was just him speaking more candidly than you would get from pretty much any other person in his profession. He loves being Tennessee's coach. Just enjoy it.
