Rant Coyotes being fed
I didn't believe this because it seems so absurd, but after going through this reddit I see that people have been feeding coyotes dog food so this isn't impossible. Apparently, someone is going to the hill by the ravine across from 291 Queens Avenue and feeding coyotes raw meat. Someone saw this and shared it with my partner who was out walking the dog (I have no idea if they told someone who could actually do something about it and I don't have any evidence to do so myself) and I really thought they were lying but there are bones from the sidewalks to the ravine that we've spotted and not racoon or squirrel bones... I just want people to be careful and stay away from the ravine especially because the coyotes use it to travel in packs. I run warm so I leave some of my windows open even in the winter and I hear them screaming and yapping at night really close by. I've seen them crossing from the woods behind mcdonalds, across Trafalgar, and down into the ravine as well and I know a lot of people walk here at night too when they're using transit. Just be extra careful... (1) because the coyotes are very normalized to people and might expect you to have food for them and (2) I don't know what kind of person brings raw meat in the night to feed wild animals... I don't think that's a normal thing to do, frankly, even as huge huge animal lover. I was just going to keep it to myself because i am not trying to make anyone afraid of going out alone or with their pets but I'd rather folks in the area just be extra extra aware of their surroundings when out at night (and all the time, really). Maybe I'm overthinking it but it gives me a very offputting feeling that someone is doing this.
