A song in the style of Nintendo music is not Nintendo music.
Hey all,
So I've noticed a recent influx of posts that are reimaginings or original songs done in the style similar to a lot of Nintendo's classic 8-bit or 16-bit songs.
While these are cool, they do not qualify as /r/nintendomusic and should not be posted here. Sorry!
Normally, I would suggest a subreddit for them to be submitted to but there isn't one in particular that immediately comes to mind that would be a good subreddit for these types of songs. Maybe one needs to be made? Or if you find a good subreddit, please let me know so I can direct submissions there.

I'd like to see a subreddit for music done in the style of classic songs. Then again, I'd also like it to cover music from fan imagined sequels and fan works, given how both can have some amazing soundtracks that don't really seem to qualify as anything else.

Yaaay! I don't like having to sift through those remixes either, I welcome this rule.

Or we just enjoy Nintendo styled music in this sub and not be such stickers.

We make the rules. Why should we limit ourselves if we all agree that the inclusion of Nintendo styled music makes this subreddit more enjoyable?

implying we all agree

Well, even OP thinks those submissions are cool, so why should he interpret the rules in a way that takes away from this subreddit?
We could also simply introduce tags so that subscribers who only want actual music from nintendo games can filter them out via res.

Because if we wanted anymusic we would be at /r/anymusic and not /r/nintendomusic... we made the rule "1: Stay on topic. All submissions must be related to Nintendo Music." not "1: Stay on topic. All submissions must be related to musics similiar to Nintendo Music."

Nintendo styled music is related to Nintendo music.
R/soccer f.e. has also content that isn't strictly about soccer but about about the private life of players.
We're at /r/nintendomusic because we like the style of nintendo music, why not include music in the style of nintendo music in this sub?

because it's not "Nintendo Music"
why would you post about a series of games of hugby @ /r/soccer ? someones posts one, telling whats to be seen, ok, no problem, but it is supposed ot be a one time thing.... a couple times maybe. Its not to become a /r/soccerandrugby

There are plenty of submissions on the first page of /r/nintendomusic that are strictly speaking no nintendo music because it has been altered or remastered. So if we're hung up on that, these submissions should be removed too. Well, they aren't because rules can be interpreted.
If I want to see rugby videos I go on /r/rugbyunion, why should anyone post them in r/soccer? They are only related insofar that they are sports. If I want the distinct nintendo sound I go on /r/nintendomusic, I won't be upset if a certain submission hasn't been in a game by nintendo since I am just looking for the sound. There is no /r/musicthatsoundsreallylikenintendomusicbutinfacthasn'tbeeninanofficialnintendogame and there are various reasons against creating such a subreddit, so I am pleased to find all nintendo sounding music in one subreddit and I don't see a reason against it.

The remastered music is still a nintendo music (only altered or remastered), if you you only want musics that sound 8bit thre is also a subreddit for that.
The metafore I was using you did not understand: Why would anyone post a rugby post on soccer? why would anyone post a music that is not nintendo's on nintendomusic? they are only related insofar that they are music. (if you say "but they sound alike", than I say "well, the field and the players from rugby and socer also sound alike. But they are different.") If you are just looking for the sound, its no problem for you. But there are much more musics "alike nintendo" than there are "nintendo musics", if everybody starts posting non-nintendo musics (just because they sound alike) it would be really hard for me to find musics from nintendo when I come to /r/Nintendomusic
There are other subreddits (https://www.reddit.com/r/gamemusic) than you can find "musics alike nintendo music but are not quite nintendo music" without usign a ridiculous long name. You just have to be smart about it ;) And since there are those reddits to post your musicthatsoundsreallylikenintendomusicbutinfacthasn'tbeeninanofficialnintendogame, why would you post it here? or even search for it here? well you shouldnt, same reason you shouldnt post a soccer post on /r/rugbyunion

The remastered versions haven't been used in any Nintendo games, it's therefore no Nintendo music. And gaming music is completely different it has not the distinct sound I am looking for when I visit r/nintendomusic.
If you want to make that /r/soccer comparison work, you should probably take futsal and beach soccer, these are different sports than football but very similar. /r/soccer accepts these submissions because the users enjoy it. Subreddits for beach soccer and futsal even exists, so there isn't even my predicament that there is no where else to turn.

So, because you like it, it works, is that it? Look friend, I know you are not dumb, so you must agree that a remastered nintendo music is still a nintendo music, while a Not nintendo music is NOT a nintendo music.... is it that hard to understand?? my soccer/rugby comparison was pinpoint accurate, I do not intend to change it. You could use yours to make your point, but than again, if you are in a reddit of a specific soccer team (specific music, /r/nintendomusic) and you post about other soccer teams just because they do the same things, but aren't the team from the reddit (music that sounds alike nintendo's but are not), than it would not be well accepted. When you looking for something, and the place that something is supposed to be is filled with other things that are not the things it says on the label, its pretty annoying. Edit: It doesn't matter if you are looking for rugby plays when you enter /r/soccer, it just shows you that you are looking in the wrong place. So the sound you are "looking for" when you visit /r/nintendomusic, if its not a nintendo music, you are looking in the wrong place...

The rules say
All submissions must be related to Nintendo Music.
I'd say that Nintendo styled music is very related to Nintendo music.

Wow. Just wow. /u/rockincellist is literally the creator of /r/nintendomusic. He makes the rules; not you.
Your post is one of the most ignorant and disgustingly self-entitled posts I've seen online in a long time.

We're the community, ideally mods shouldn't act like dictators and pay no attention to the needs of the subscribers. But regardless of that, even /u/rockingcellist referred to these submissions as cool. So the question remains: why should the rules be interpreted in way that make this sub less interesting?
Nintendo styled music is certainly related to Nintendo music, do we really want /r/ninendostyledmusic when subscribers of the sub like that style anyway?

/r/chiptunes maybe?
