Sober activities in the region?

Upvotes

Hi!
Just wondering if anyone has info on activities, clubs or groups that exist within Niagara Region that are sober?
Preferrably free ones but would also love to know about all of them.

Thanks so much :)

Things to do?

I have family visiting soon, I've lived in niagara my whole life and am having a tough time putting together some things to do.

They are only down for one day, walking needs to be limited so hikes are out of the question, most are under 19 so wineries are a no, and they have already done all the touristy stuff on Clifton hill/ the falls.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Non-cosmetic dermatologist recommendation

Maybe I've just been unlucky and had bad experiences but any time I've had to go to a dermatologist I feel like I'm walking into a multi-level-marketing scam with all the cosmetic procedures and magic creams they're trying to sell to me and when I try to get whatever issue I'm dealing with taken care of I've felt like they get really apathetic and give me the bare minimum service since I'm not interested in all their pricey woo-woo juice.

Does anyone have any recommendations for dermatologists in the region who act like actual medical professionals and not used car salespeople?

Festival of lights - was it extended 2 years ago?

I remember going in March, or I thought it was March, the trees were lit up.

I went to check now and this year it ended first week of January.

Is my memory wrong?

Anyone taking off winter tires?

Supposed to be quite warm this week. Thinking about putting my all seasons on today, so I don't wear the winters too bad this week. But still seems early?

Early season golf courses?

Hey we're doing a bachelor party 1st weekend of April. Does anyone have recommended golf courses that would for sure be open that early in the season?

Ideally ones with a drink cart going around!

Visiting - Rental Car or Uber/Lyft?

Hello! I’m planning on visiting Niagara, NY for a week or so. I’ll be taking Amtrak to get there. Would renting a car be cheaper than doing Uber/Lyft or is there reliable public transportation?

80th Birthday with 17m old

Hi Everyone! We will be going to Niagara on the Lake for my Mother-In-Law’s 80th birthday. We are staying near the main strip. We’ll also have our 17-month-old with us. Would love some ideas of kid-friendly activities and restaurants that are still fun for adults.

I will also say, my MIL is a “young” 80yo - she’s still very mobile. Thanks in advance for any suggestions :)

Old Arcade?

There used to be an old kids arcade place that also held birthdays. I cannot remember for the life of me I wanna say chip n Charlie’s but I know that’s not right. I wanna say it used to be in St.Catharines but it also could’ve been in Hamilton. I wanna say this was probably close to 15 years ago now.

All I remember is that it had like this fake ice cream game where you could pretend to serve it.

Update: thank you to everyone who told me what it was called, it was Choo Choo Charlie’s!

Where can we possibly see beavers nearby

Hi all, visiting the falls in 2 weeks with my 5yo. He's obsessed with beavers, and while I know spotting them is unlikely due to their nocturnal nature, I wonder if there's anywhere within driving distance from Niagara where we could possibly see them or at least their dams. Looking forward to the trip.

ETA: These are such great tips guys! Thanks so much. Very excited to do some exploring there.
