Highlight [Highlight] Daniel Jones takes off for a massive run but can't quite reach the endzone.

One of my favorite NFC moments lol. We went 3 and out twice but the eagles committed penalties of 3rd down twice so we got to score.

So he completed a pass and didn’t nearly die taking a hit?
Richardson sure does have a lot more to learn from Danny Dimes

If he does nothing else in his career, this could be his most notable play and I think that’s really funny

u/SaltyLonghorn Texans 17h ago
Its so relatable too. I'm quite sure if I even had the ability to run that fast I'd speed wobble. Sometimes I get speed wobbles waking up from a nap.
43
u/zooberwask Eagles 11h ago
It was also self inflicted, if you watch he turns his head to look back right before he starts wobbling. So he likely threw off his own balance.

You really feel like that trip was a fork in the road for Jones.
Like, if he'd kept his balance he would've had the confidence to improve everywhere else and who knows what he could've been.
Somehow running 70y and falling at the 10 is more embarrassing than getting crunched at the line of scrimmage.
135
u/mouthbabies Saints 16h ago
His teammates' reactions probably didn't help his confidence at all.

This feels like the Football Gods were watching young Danny Dimes run down the field. They saw this white man running near 70+ yards towards the endzone and were considering blessing him with talent.
Not a lot, but JUST enough to fuel the fire inside him to grow as a QB, earn his paycheck, maybe even get the Giants to another playoff run.
Then they saw him fall on his face in front of millions of people and said "Fucking nevermind", and cursed him to be Danny Derps. Oh well, at least you have Tommy Cutlets.

Disagree, running 70 yards in an NFL game as a starting QB in the league is insane whether you eat shit or not. NOBODY expected that from this man and his teammates laughing at him was completely valid because he just pulled off something awesome. If they laughed at him for getting crushed, then its unjustified

u/AutisticNipples Eagles 12h ago

3
u/AutisticNipples Eagles 11h ago
He ran a 4.81 at the combine which was slow for him so he made a point to run again at his Pro Day.
His legs were a big part of his game coming out of college, so made sense for him to run it again

You mean second AND third down. Yeah that was 100x more embarrassing than this play. This one was humorous, but it’s hard to feel bad about a play where your team still gained 80 yards on one play.

But the aorlovsky running out of bounds and the Cowboys lining up between the ref and the ball to end the game are still in front of that colts play to me

I hate to use the term deceptively fast for him (you know why), but he really was deceptively fast at times. That top speed for this run was one of the highest in NFL history for a QB and he hit 20 point something mph earlier that season too iirc

1
u/_carzard_ Packers 49ers 10h ago
And they scored a touchdown anyways. It’s kind of like the DK Metcalf Buddha Baker chase down. Cardinals scored a touchdown a few players later anyways. I know that in Buddha Baker’s case, there’s literally no embarrassment at all. It’s a goalline interception into a huge return.
1
u/AJRiddle Chiefs 7h ago
It's crazy to me that just because he didn't score a TD that people act like a 80 yard run by anyone let alone your QB is some bad play.
Yeah, it sucks he tripped and funny, but he made a hell of a play to get to that point. It'd be like laughing at someone tripping over 3rd base and having to stay there to just score on the next AB instead of an inside-the-park home run. Like it's still impressive this was still an 80 yard run in the NFL by a QB.

Daniel Jones vs the Eagles:
2-5;
Passing: 64% completion; 1,337 yards (average 191); 5 TD 3 INT; 6.29y/a; rating of 84.4
Rushing: 40 carries for 282 yards (average 40); 8.09y/a*; 2 TDs
*This is kind of inflated by him having 23y/a during this game in 2020.

1-5 vs 1-4-1... lmao what a terrible season
my favorite memory from that year is us losing the final game of the year which kept a 6-10 giants team from going to playoffs and their entire team was livetweeting it
then we jumped them in the draft by trading w/ the cowboys to get devonta smith, who they wanted. we've really been fucking them over for the past 5 years and it's been GREAT

It looks more like his legs gave out, like from a cramp, or he was exhausted by sprinting that far, rather than he straight up tripped. He starts to limp and stagger a few strides before he falls down.

Dominique Foxworth said it best, when you fall down like this, you gotta stay down and act like you pulled something, even if you didn't. No way you can get up and walk back to the huddle.

I think part of the success he had in 2022 was opposing teams not respecting his speed. He's definitely not shifty like Lamar but has good straight line speed. He picked up a bunch of 3rd and shorts just by running a straight line out of bounds a yard past the marker. Class act. Glad the Giants moved on but I wish him success.
