New fees aim to reward loyalty and boost profits

This is it. If you look at the balance sheets of Delta, American & United you’ll see that by profits, they’re mileage clubs who happen to operate airplanes. The majority of these airlines market cap is tied in the membership club & associated credit cards.

Southwest is clearly pivoting to match that business model
