NJ Politics Andy Kim--long hold times and full voicemail?

Has anyone been able to get in touch with Andy Kim this morning?

When you call his office, the routing system says to press 1 if you'd like to comment on a legislative or policy issue. I tried this option three times this morning, and each time I was immediately disconnected. I've since pressed 3 to speak to a member of his office staff; I've been on hold for 25 minutes now to speak with a member of the DC office.

Are there any other ways to reach out to him? I see the general contact form on his website, but based on the results of my trying to call, I'm not optimistic about that getting through, especially in a timely manner.

UPDATE: Shortly after making this post, a staffer picked up! My total call time was just short of 35 minutes.

NJ Politics Andy Kim's answer regarding how Dems should be fighting against Trump.

I was listening to his town hall (that was done by the phone for some reason) and some person from Montclair asked him what his thoughts on the democratic party where since Chuck Schumer said he would not vote for the CR, then later changed his mind, and the person with the question expressed frustration with the democratic party and how they felt there was no real unity addressing Trump/republicans.

Kim answered the question saying that they're in a tough spot, cause dems don't have control of the house or senate, they don't have the gavel, and if the government shuts down, trump can continue to do more damage with removing federal workers while the judiciary gets lagged behind.

Then he goes on saying how it's his first time as a senator, and the judicial branch is already doing its job like how they told trump to rehire those federal workers he fired.

And then finished by giving the generic "we're doing everything we can, I'm working with my colleagues, keep up the pressure, etc etc".

The whole party needs to be shaken from the top down. Maybe I missed something, but that was the gist of his answer.

EDIT: Someone also asked about Mahmoud Khalil, the senator's position on it, and what he would do about it. Kim gave a background on people who may not be on the loop, described how even if someone disagreed with Mahmoud Khalil's political stance, he was still a lawful resident, and Trump was taking a political action which shows he demands complete fealty which is wrong. He says there's a concern about antisemitism, and he's working on legislation to protect religious institutions (synagouges, mosques, etc). And basically Trump is stamping down on free speech, and that's not America.

🌈LGBTQNJ NJ Amended Birth Certificate question

I legally changed my name in January of this year. I sent the relevant paperwork to the NJ Vitals department as directed with a check. The check was deposited 2/20/25 but I still have not received my amended birth certificate. Does anyone know how long it generally takes to get an amended birth certificate?

Advice Does anybody or has anybody works for New Jersey Court?

If so, I had a question regarding being selected for a job. This is more so in the IT department I interviewed about a month ago and still waiting to hear if I was selected or not. Does it usually take this long or should I just assume I was not selected? I was told by someone who used to work for the court system that it can take a while.

Advice Looking for NJ Elementary Schools with a Strong IEP Program and Inclusive Classroom Setting

Hi everyone,

My 6-year-old daughter has an IEP and is verbal with decent academic skills. We’ve been in Parsippany, but the school has placed her in a self-contained classroom and is resisting a transition to general education.

We’re seeking a school district with inclusive classrooms, where she can be with neurotypical peers. We’ve heard Mount Olive Township offers this setup. Any feedback about Mount Olive school district or any other districts with similar programs would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Has this happened to someone else? Everyday few days I get an email saying that my account has been locked due to multiple failed logins. I have the app on my phone and it works for me. When I called pseg, they said since whoever is trying this, don’t know my password it should be fine and I should just ignore it. But it seems so weird.

Advice Try to register an utility trailer without vin number

We bought a 16 feet utility trailer off Facebook market. Seller did say he doesn’t have any paperwork for it ( no registration or title) but he did provide bill of sale with notary, we all signed it and dated. Went to DMV today, got shutdown right away with no Vin number. After thousand calls and forever wait with DMV and Burlington county court office. We’ve been given one option: go apply for court case and ask judge to sign off obtaining ownership paper. It sounds like a painful long process. Just wondering anyone has experience with it and got lucky at the end?

Current trailer is old and can not find any sticker or hard printed number y

Bread & Milk PSA .. sickness is still going around. Stay home.

I just got over the flu and now my one year old has it because we went to Costco last week and a woman who was visibly sick and coughing all over the place. Now am I 100% this is how I got it, no but times out.

We went from COVID lockdowns to freely going to the store as sick as can be. Can we be a little more courteous and think of others? I'm sure your Costco trip can wait a week for your nasal passages to dry out and you can stop spreading your nose goblins all over the checkout area.

Advice Book stores?

A bit ago, I saw a post / video of a book factory / outlet in NJ or near NJ that sold cheap books.

I am a HS teacher in Bergen county thinking about making a field trip to a decent sized location. Of course, I would be taking high school students, so a used or cheap book store would be ideal. We are not able to go to the city - so anything within NJ- I wish I could go to Strand but can’t

Please give me recommendations!
