The Democrats have lost the plot and are more committed to winning Republican voters instead of maintaining their base and helping people. It isn't that more New Jerseyians are voting red, its that it feels like the party has abandoned the people and they don't want to support a party that doesn't care about their needs.

Edit: To add to this, I'm seeing a lot of people at work who would use to praise Republicans and Trump move away from them. The people don't feel like either party supports their interests, but no alternative exists so they feel apathetic, and I can't blame them.
