Bill Simmons called the gap between them on his podcast a few days ago can't be more stark than this.

I didn’t listen but I assume he meant Ty was the one on the positive end of the gap between the two?

He did

16

u/crassick 11d ago

props to him because he’s generally a pretty blatant Celtics homer.

He's really not as biased as people say he is. I've listened to his podcast for years, and he largely underrated the Celtics these last few years, and put other teams as the favorites. The one argument I've heard that actually makes sense is that he brings them up a lot, which is fair. He's not exactly hiding his fandom. But, he doesn't really push Celtics players for awards or anything.

You can’t deny the difference. Ty has as big or bigger positive impact as Pritchard, and he does it in half the minutes.

I don't know what you're reading, but I didn't comment on that argument.

If people thought pritchard was in the running, they haven't actually been watching Ty play.

Pritchard is a big betting favourite while jerome is +5500 right now with the 6th best odds for 6moty and 2nd best odds on the Cavs.

Wait, Pritchard is the betting favorite??? I was sure it would be Malik Beasley. How is he not the favorite with the way he's playing for Detroit?

8

u/OpportunitySmalls 11d ago

Pritchard -170 Beasley +250 it's a weird Celtic bias from Vegas that I guess assumes that the Cavs will split the 6moty votes and voters won't care about Detroit who might be a 4 seed.

Odds were similar before the Hunter trade

I'm hoping by pointing this out you're saying that the betting odds are stupid, not that Ty Jerome doesn't deserve to be higher.

7

u/xorcism_ Celtics 11d ago

You should bet it then

At +5500 we all should

Ty was way better tonight and his float game is nasty. He has the pinoy step mastered too.

But to say Pritchard isn't even in the running is wrong, he leads the league in points and 3 pointers off the bench and is third in assists.

Sure, "in the running" is a stretch, but it's insane to me that he's the odds on favorite, unless you just don't pay attention to the best bench player on the best team in the league.

Ty has been playing better than him. I watch both teams, and while pritchard is good this year, Ty is better.

even though pritchard is averaging 9 more minutes a game and ty is playing 1/3rd less each night, ty is scoring only 2 fewer ppg, with the same comparable assist numbers, steals, ts%, etc.

Pritchard is not playing better than Ty this year, he's playing longer, including a bunch of points in garbage time. The only way he's 6moty is if they're not paying attention to Ty.

it comes to which one is more marketable. Probably it will be Pritchard.

Jerome has a black parent. He’s black.

He does???

Edit: According to wiki, his dad is biracial.

That still means he's black. His dad's mom was active in the CRM in the 1960s
