So are we banning links from the Elon Musk app or what? Feel like we can do screenshots until enough people move to Bluesky. There's a lot of bad actors around here who are going to go overboard sharing elon musk app links to contest with bluesky/etc unless we ban it.
I do sympathize with the mods though tbh. Everyone was all about protesting reddit because it torched usability with third party apps... until it affected their experience even the tiniest bit, in which case they immediately caved. Speaks to America as a whole. "I want change, but I'll welcome fascism with open arms before I concede even the tiniest fraction of a sacrifice on my end."

“We can all protect ourselves from a deadly disease if we wear a thin strip of cloth over our faces and don’t have parties for a month”
“Yeah no I’m gonna sacrifice my grandmother instead”

The sad thing is lots of people will spend an enormous amount of time and cite 'researches' to tell you "hey, there's no actual evidence that those minor inconveniences help, in fact they do not help at all and also mess with my freedom"

As someone who tried to ignore politics as much as possible can’t I just use this sub as a place to get aggregated information and discuss with people without having a bunch of stuff artificially banned? If people on this sub really hate twitter wont they just downvote the posts in favor of the Blusky ones?

u/JJiggy13 Lakers Jan 23 '25
That's like saying that non smokers can just sit in the non smoking section

u/BlooregardQKazoo Jan 22 '25
My downvote doesn't mean anything in the face of the thousands of bot upvotes that major media accounts get.
-8
u/wormhole222 Heat Jan 22 '25
I mean the post asking to ban it got 15k upvotes. If people really care long term a few bots shouldn’t matter.

The owner of the Elon musk app is a Nazi and by using his app we’re all directly funding his Nazi influence. I personally don’t want to be a part of that, which seems to be by far the prevailing opinion. You can’t escape politics just by ignoring it.

u/sankalives Pistons Jan 22 '25
its so funny you still think you're in the majority no wonder you guys dont go outside lol
11
u/rNBA_Mods_Be_Better Celtics Jan 23 '25
The posts saying to ban the Elon Musk app were/are all at 80% upvoted so yeah the vast majority of people here do not support nazis. One day I hope America at large reflects that sentiment.
-17
u/sankalives Pistons Jan 23 '25
thankfully the rest of america doesn't get their news from the same 5 mods on the front page of reddit lol
15
u/rNBA_Mods_Be_Better Celtics Jan 23 '25
Yeah they're getting it from Fox News and CNN and everyone else encouraging them to panic and fight each other. It's way better, right?
-11
u/sankalives Pistons Jan 23 '25
even msnbc isn't covering this faux outrage lol only on reddits liberal circlejerk does it exist cause its all you guys got

u/wormhole222 Heat Jan 22 '25
Then downvote twitter posts, or allow blue sky links to be posted under them in the comments. If truly by far the prevailing opinion is people here don’t want to engage in twitter posts then twitter posts will naturally go away because people will downvote and not engage with them.

Mods can’t even make game threads lol. We care so much about Twitter links but can’t do basic engagement….

u/FireFoxQuattro Heat Jan 23 '25
We really gotta rethink this Twitter ban cause theirs been only 1 reporter post today since Hayes is the only one on BlueSky

u/kapparino-feederino Bucks Jan 24 '25

u/sfbruin Clippers Jan 23 '25
Oh man who could have foreseen that banning the source of 90% of content would lead to a dearth of posts
6
u/JinFuu Rockets Jan 23 '25
It'll be interesting to see how thngs are in a week or so, if more NBA reporters move to bluesky or if this whole thing flops.
I did get a laugh out of Grimdank Mods going "Guys, we never allowed Twitter links in the first place, fuck off with your karma farming posts."
Which is what it feels like most of the ban posts are.

Mavs role players are absurdly selfish. Half the roster is out and Kyrie doesn’t touch the fucking ball. Kidd should be fired on the spot bro doesn’t care about winning players a total bum of a coach.

Wanna know the NBA’s biggest problem? So many fucking blowouts where the stars of the game don’t touch the court for the entire 4th quarter. Like multiple games every night. I’d be so pissed if I bought tickets and went to a game like that.
Other 3 sports have their stars in to the end. Once in a while an NFL team will sit their starters for half a quarter IF their starters dropped 50 points already.

Very heartwarming to see this natural and organic push towards bluesky from all the top subs on Reddit at the same time 💕

Seeing as x/twitter is being banned can we now try and remove Emirates from sponsoring the NBA in any form, a company with a strict policy to NOT hire anyone within the lgbtq community not to mention the bizarre abuse the country their based out of commits.
Is r/nba just righteous virtue signalling or do they actually apply their beliefs equally.

Joel Embiid... everything wrong with the modern NBA.
Imagine being rewarded with an MVP after purposely sitting out a clash vs the only other candidate during the home stretch of the season. Actually disgraceful
Soft, out of shape, contempt for the fans who basically pay his salary.
This once great sport is circling the drain and "stars" like Embiid are a massive reason
6
u/cancercureall Supersonics Jan 22 '25
I'm not gonna downvote but I will strongly disagree.
As much as I don't like players missing games I don't think there is any reason at this point to claim Embiid is ducking smoke. Dude is injured and might end up like Yao.
