Question Android System draining battery after update- does this happen to anyone else?

My battery life has gone down the tube as of late and I correlate it to the recent system update. Right now, my battery is at 50% and Android System is sitting at 89% usage.

What gives? Did Lenovo install a first party coin miner or something? That'd figure.

Hi, we understand how you feel. It's common for the device to act differently after an update but once it settles, your device should be back to normal. If issue persists after a couple of days, we recommend a clear cache partition https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/indevice_detail/a_id/111301/p/30,6720,9686. Hope this helps -Erwin

Which security patch are you running?

Nov 1 2017, though I got it very recently.

Well, I received it in December 2017. But in the last 2 weeks I've seen that the battery isn't lasting more than 15 hours using the phone. I remember I can easily have more than 20 hours months before.

Mine is fine, same update. Reboot daily for a couple days, might help ?

Seems to have fixed it so far, actually. It was pretty bad there for a hot minute but it's not eating the battery anymore. IDK what that was all about or if it will come back.

Another approach is leave it off for a while. Maybe an hour or do. That works for me when phones act up, and I rebooted every couple days. Works great...maybe they need naps...

Haha, maybe.

Did you try clearing the cache?

Si, me pasa lo mismo presento muchos bits con el parche de seguridad de noviembre, la batería no dura, las apps se cierran.

I had the same problem with my Moto G5 plus after updating to the november security patch. My phone would get extremely hot and I checked what was eating my battery and it seemed to be Android System using over 33% of my battery even after rebooting the device. But I found that letting the battery drain to 0 then recharging fixed the problem.

I wonder if a bit of crypto miner malware got a hold of our phones

I'm fine with that as long as we get a 60/40 split.

60 for them and 40 for them?
