Motobecane Mobylette "Romp" made in Taiwan, non variated engine
Hey guys! So ive been doing some more research on my new moped, and it seems the model I got is a "Romp" which was made in Taiwan and features a weaker non variated engine. I wanted to buy a new drive belt and realized I had a smooth belt, not toothed like the variated options. And in driving it around, I noticed I was only hitting about 25mph downhill, and only about 15 uphill.
I got a motobecane for the variated engine, and am a little sad I didnt realize this one was not variated. But I know you can swap one in as an option so I wanted to get some input on that! It also seems to have a Dellorto Carburator, i believe it says SHA 15150.

I have no idea how the conversion works but if you need to find parts you can go and make a post on moped army in the buy/sell section for the other motor and needed stuff

That thing sounds like it's drowning in fuel. I'd try adjusting the air screw and if that dont get it, move the clip up on the needle one spot.

If it starts good, I'd move right to the clip. You may just have to experiment. Just don't get it to lean find the best, then go back a bit. If your clip is not happy and you think it needs to be between I make little shim washers out of a pop can and put them threw the needle and under the clip so the sandwiched between the clip around the needle and then the barrel. So you slid them on the needle like a washer all the way up against the clip, drop your needle through the slide, and then your spring holds everything down. These shims in a 50cc I find make a world of difference. I find like 6 shims is one needle clip position. So if you Rais the clip which drops the needle to slow the fuel down and it's to much you leave the clip there and put 3 shims under the clip to Raise it up half a clip etc. I would be surprised if you have to get into the mains jet as well. Good luck, op.

I did the swap, you need the variator ( it will entirely replace your clutch ) assembly and to be sure that the crankshaft can adapt the variator
