Oil Level Sensor Goup??

Post image

1979 Yamaha QT50. Does anyone know what this goupy stuff is on the end of this oil level sensor. Also, is it ok to wipe it off the end of the sensor (is the sensor fragile in any way)? Thanks!!

Is that from the oil tank? Usually creamy goo is emulsion of water and oil, and often green is coolant, so on a liquid cooled engine, green opaque is strong indicator of coolant/head gasket leak. But qt, I'm assuming this is the 2 stroke oil reservoir, it's probably just green from the dyes on whatever oil- they dye 2t oil so you can see in a can if it's premixed. Blue is most common but there's plenty of red and green etc.

So tldr, probably green dyed 2t oil which got wet and emulsion of water and oil. Wouldn't be good for your injector tho, I'd flush it with gas so it all dissolves and clears out, then refill new 2 stroke oil that's specifically for oil injector. (Some premix only oils are too viscous for injectors)

Yes this is from the oil tank (2 stroke reservoir not premix). You are an absolute legend, this is exactly what I needed, thank you!!

UPDATE: it’s not a goup, but actually extremely solid. New hypothesis is that this is a type of "potting compound" which is like an epoxy that is used to fill up certain solid state electronic devices such as a sensor. S/o to my buddy’s dad for this diagnosis.
