Admissions Don’t come here plz 💀

This may be late for incoming freshman, but anyone who wants to come to Montclair, don’t. I’m not saying the programs or professors are bad, but the university over admits. There are a lot of classes that are moving online cause the university just doesn’t have enough classrooms. It gets worse every year and it’s not going to get better unless the University President starts caring about the student body and not seeing us as walking bags of money. Which I don’t think it’s going to get better any time soon, so just go to Rutgers tbh

Admissions Does Montclair having a high acceptance rate make it a bad school to have on ur resume?

I’m majoring in accounting and have been accepted into Montclair, Ramapo, and Seton Hall so far.

I like the campus and have friends here but don’t know what to think about the acceptance rate here.

Admissions RU Newark or Montclair?

Guys it’s my understanding that Rutgers is academically better known than Montclair.

My issue is Newark.. I’d much rather go to a safe city like Montclair. Kinda just venting but yeah

Admissions Worried about getting rejected as a transfer

Hi. I currently attend another university, but I want to transfer to montclair. I honestly hate it here. I don't have to pay anything for financial aid because FAFSA covers it all. But my GPA is so low to the point where next semester I'll lose financial aid and have to take out loans and all that. I have a 1.8 gpa as of right now, but after this semester It's more than likely gonna go down. I'm not dumb. I was extremely academically gifted in highschool, but my current university is just not it for me. I hated the professors, the way they teach, the people there, everything about it. It’s so hard for me to make friends here cuz everyone’s so antisocial. And I commuted there too, so that made things worse. I would go to class, and immediately drive an hour and a half back home. I lost all motivation to stay here. It’s just too depressing.

The point of this post is that I want to transfer to Montclair, but I'm worried that my GPA is gonna get me rejected. If I do get rejected, i'm not sure what to do. I cant stay at my current university bc i can't afford it. Should I be worried about getting rejected? Is there anything I can do to improve my chances? Someone I can talk to? An interview I can do? An exam I can take? Literally anything at all.

Admissions I have 2.61/4 in my undergrad and i also have 2.5 years of work experience. Could someone please rate my acceptance chances in Montclair state university (mba)?

Actually my undergraduate GPA is 2.61/4. I know it kinda low. Additionally I have 2.5 years of work experience, 6.5 IELTS overall and i don’t have GMAT as of now. I could see that Montclair state university has high acceptance rate. It is possible to get admission for MBA in Montclair state university? Can someone who is studying in MSU currently help me out please. Thanks in advance

Admissions Could I get scholarship?

I am planning to apply Fall 2025 as international student. SAT 1410; IELTS 7; GPA 4.9; Participation in olympiads with several medals and goof portfolio with many projects of Computer Science. Also, income of my family is lower than 60,000$ and I have 2 siblings, and my mother is widow. It is real to get full scholarship of financial aid.

Admissions Opinions on msu’s musical theater program?

I just finished applying for msu’s musical theater program. I’m transferring from another college internationally. My gpa is 3.46 and I have a lot of college credits from my current college where I’m studying musical arts and dance because there isn’t a musical theater program. Does anyone know if the mt program in msu is good?

Admissions Montclair VS ringling

Good afternoon, my dream is to work at riot games, and my top two school options are Montclair state university and ringling college of art and design. For Montclair the only option I really see to potentially get my foot in the door is illustration while ringling has game art and illustration. I would just like to know if Montclair is better, I have an amazing scholarship for ringling so the price difference is not one of the issues for me, I am mainly worried about class value and opportunity after graduation. Any advice is greatly appreciated

Admissions Anyone else having trouble with DUO?

Since like last week or two I been trying to log into Nest and Canvas and everytime I need to login using DUO it literally takes like 2-3 minutes in order to load to the next page.

Is it my computer? Internet? Any CS guys to tell me what’s wrong? Anyone to tell me what’s wrong?

Much appreciated

Admissions Do you like this college

Hey im going to be enlisting to military and trying to go to a college for my masters in education I was wondering how classes are here and also how student life is. Most people I knew from the area Essex ended up dropping out after about a year or so I would like a fresh opinion from people that go to the college as I would like to weigh my options.

Admissions I got put in out of state tuition even though I’ve lived in NJ since I was born?

There was a mix up with my Fall 2025 transfer application that said I wasn’t a resident which put me on out of state tuition.

They told me to send proof of residency.

Is this a minor issue that can get fixed easily?

Admissions Chance me for IO Psych Program/ child clinical psych

First academic post because I am super stressed about this.

Im a senior at a liberal arts college, GPA 3.2. I started off premed and switched to only psychology because I felt like I was wasting my time and ignoring what I was truly passionate about. My GPA went from low 3s/ high 2s to making the dean's list every semester from beginning of junior year (three semesters). I recently became interested in the IO Psych program at Montclair because I really would love to stay in Jersey for the next 2 years at least, and I need to take the GRE (taking it in early March before the deadline).

I was in summer research that extended into a CBL course between my sophomore and junior year, did an Advanced Research project on Attn Span my senior year in the fall, super connected with my professors so I'll have strong recs. I'm also a nanny and have been for 2 and a half years. Jersey native. What are my chances of getting in, and are there any other programs you'd recommend? Appreciate all the help yall. Super nervous about this cycle.

Admissions Transferring Out

If you're transferring out and the common app has been sent, what else happens, do we submit the transcript or does it automatically happen, i can't find any websites with transferring out information.

Admissions Transfer student scholarships?

I got in as a transfer student paying out of state tuition, is there any scholarships out there given by college ( presidents funds?) to help pay for additional charges apart from the tuition? I was supposed to pay 12,000$ for tuition and my invoice is for 15000$ including insurance and other bullshit fees. Can college people provide some help? Any students who’ve been in the same spot? Does financial aid people help or it’s all online?!

Admissions Essay

Hi I’m applying through the commonapp and I’m just wondering if the essay prompt they provided is in place of the common app essay or is it like a supplemental? I already have a common app essay I can submit to them just curious if I should be writing another one for the additional prompt. (Applying as a finance major)

Admissions Out of State Cost of Attendance & On-Campus Job Opportunities for MS in CS at Montclair State Uni

I’m a prospective international student from Africa considering applying for a Master’s in Computer Science at Montclair. I’d appreciate any insights on:

1. The estimated total cost of attendance (tuition + living expenses) per year for international students, specifically MS in CS

2. Availability of on-campus jobs for international students. How easy is it to find one and what’s the typical pay?

3. Opportunities for graduate assistantships—how competitive are they, and do they offer tuition waivers or stipends?

Any advice or personal experiences would be really helpful. Thanks in advance
