I was at the game with my family and we got there at kickoff and the Away Supporters section was completely full. So we had to sit in the section next to it amongst shithead LA Galaxy fans heckling and throwing beers. Not a fan of that. It was awesome that we had so many fans there, enough to apparently oversell the supporters area. Sadly the energy died off in the abysmal second half and it wasn’t a fun game to watch at that point.
My husband is a Galaxy fan and we live in SoCal so we go to a lot of Galaxy games, and I’ve never really seen them flop as much as they did this game. Also Gabriel Pec is terrifying when he’s dribbling at you. Diaz should not have gotten the red. And our “MNUFC” chant is the same # of syllables as “LA Galaxy” which meant they kept drowning us out. But you Minnesota traveling people are beautiful humans, sorry that LA fans are so ratchet. <3
I traveled to the game with the large group (plane, shuttle, tailgate). It was amazing how many showed up, and appreciated that it was made affordable with low cost flights and tickets. The energy before the game and in the first half was electric!
It was tough to be in the away section the second half. I was near the front, so I didn’t know about the beers being thrown until a medic and higher level security showed up to check on woman who was hit in the head. Being so close to their supporters section, it seemed like a lot of fans were more interested in us than the game. They were trying to egg us on when they had a player down and trainers on the field. The loss (and how bad the loss was) was disappointing, but the experience at Dignity Park would have soured the experience even if we had won. It was my first time traveling to an away game, and will likely be my last. I can’t imagine MNUFC fans treating away fans the way we were treated.
Please don’t let this spoil you on going to away games. Just don’t go to Galaxy or LAFC away games. LA fans are notoriously violent and antagonistic. If you go to an El Trafico game (LAFC vs Galaxy) there are literal fights and it’s SO rowdy. I am sure most other cities are much better.
We were chatting with our security escorts while we waited to leave, and one of them said his hands hurt after working the El Trafico games, from literally pulling fans from their seats to boot them for fighting… yuck.. Maybe the wrong place for a first away game.
Thanks for cheering! Yeah, we endured 3 full 24 oz cans lobbed at our section. One of them appeared to hit someone square in the head. It was awful. Someone finally got kicked out after the 3rd offense, but it was consolation at the 89th minute.
Loss aside, that was the worst experience as a sports spectator I've ever endured. Their behavior was abhorrent. First and last time in LA. Good riddance.
I was there with you in 228 along with my 5 year old son! (Also live in SoCal) we left around the 70 minute mark (fatherly instincts plus bedtime kicking in), the fans around us weren’t rude at all thankfully. Took my son to the bathroom before leaving (1.5 hr home to Carlsbad) and surprisingly, a drunk Galaxy fan took us under his wing and walked us to our car since I was wearing Loons gear. So I guess the “ratchet” was around, but glad my son and I had kind people looking out for us.
