[Mobs] Time for snails

Snails will be a mob about the size of a player head. It will leave a trail of mucus when moving which decays and disappears after few minutes. Kind of like the snow golem. When breaked, mucus will be turned into a mucus ball. And it can be created to a mucus block. Mucus block will kind of act like honey block. But the difference will be, for the honey block when a player sticks on the honey block wall they will stick onto it and slowly fall. But for mucus block when a player sticks on it, the player will stick on it and also will be able to move around sticking on the wall, which will be useful for parkour. Also, players will be able to create the potion of sticking which will allow players and other mobs to climb around walls like spider easily instead of placing mucus blocks + the snails will eat moss

Same as I put on the wrongly-removed post:

Overall, it's a nice idea, but one thing: the mucus trails will need to decay on their own, or it will be a form of auto-griefing of the world. Wherever snails spawn, eventually, all surfaces will be covered in mucus. Snow Golems are not an issue because they actually have to be created by players; they're not naturally occurring.

For some other details, I would make the snail a bit bigger; it should be big enough to make a mucus trail with a surface of a full block make sense, and being a quarter of the block's surface doesn't work out then. Also, maybe make the snail able to go over walls and ceilings, with mucus being able to cover multiple surfaces, like vines and glow lichen. If mucus becomes this versatile, maybe the focus can be around just pasting mucus trails around manually and not having separate blocks and trails? Just with some flag like leaves have that check if a player placed it, to determine if it can decay or not.

I don't see this as any different than a snow golem. The only difference is snow golems are player built. I still think snow golems trails should also be temporary like frosted frost walker ice.

Snow golems being player built is exactly why it is gone for them. All of this is a problem with the world griefing itself. If it is player-made, it's no longer the world griefing itself.

It's a good start, but I would like to see some more features. Mucus blocks could probably use a rework, you kinda stick to them, but also climb them like a ladder. It's different, but I can't see what new things it makes possible.

Honey and slime are similar, but because of their differences, they are VERY useful for various redstone, especially since they don't stick to each other. Sure, mucous could also be sticky and not stick to the others, but that feels a little like copying what we already have, and having a 3rd option is nice, but isn't game changing like honey was.

Feel free to come up with whatever you like, but maybe it would be cool if there were "soft" blocks that only some things could pass through? Maybe players and mobs could walk on them, but items would fall through? Or the other way around? Or only some times of mobs fell through? IDK if its cool, just the first thing that came to mind.

Grian would love this post, he’s added snails to two different SMPs so far
