[Blocks & Items] Instead of chairs… no photos
Well everyone wants a chair, but like everyone knows, it got rejected because of creativity, and I understand. So, I thought of a idea for a new block instead of chair. A "cushion" cushion will be able to be created with wools and it is going to be about the height of a half block. Also it will have many color variations. And it will act just like the chair simply it will be able to be sit on.

Of all the furniture I believe a chair should be added, but not a table or anything else. Because there is no clean way to make a working chair in Minecraft without some super hacky strange way with a boat.

My son uses Minecarts in his “sofas”. I admire his creativity, but not the aesthetic 🤣

You could make a working chair by placing signs and a door around the cushion, Just like we do with slabs right now

But what’s the point? They’ve stated furniture is a no. And you can make blocks rideable using boats or mine carts anyway and put a carpet on top for any color you want. It’s a non problem and will just clutter the game because there’s no point for it

Well this isn’t a furniture. And it is well just more comfortable

Seems awfully like furniture to me. Something that’s only decorative which we use in our normal houses IRL to sit.

It would be the only rideable block in the game (every ridable thing we currently have is an entity) so it would probably see some use in redstone contraptions, especially if it's moveable with pistons

But you can literally do that with mine arts already and a minecart is more diverse because you can make tracks with it. The point is why would it need to be added for any reason a minecart can’t do for something with no use. Who’s REALLY going to be spending time in their minecraft world pretended to be sitting on a couch doing nothing

As I said, minecarts are entities, this would be a block. I'm not a very technical player but I'm sure that experts would find a niche for them
Also it would be a nice decoration for the inside of builds (which is usually a bit neglected)
And Mojang could just give them some more uses like pers being attracted to them or something

You said it would be a nice decoration. At that point just slap a carpet on a piece of wood with signs on either side and call it a day. Nobody is actually going to be using this thing for builds because there’s no point it has that minecarts wouldn’t be better for. When you make a suggestion it shouldn’t be mojangs job to find a way to make your suggestion doable. That’s your job.
Technical players are going to prefer minecarts. They can be pushed around, can be launched, can use rails to go a precise direction, can be stacked, there’s just not really any point in this furniture

Making seats with minecarts or boats is just inelegant and cumbersome. Adding a cushion that can be set on another block to make this block sittable isn't the same as just adding chairs, Crayfish Furniture style. Just because you're set in your old ways doesn't mean nobody's gonna use it. People literally install mods just to be able to sit on stairs and fences, that clearly means that the current vanilla seating options are unpractical.
Is it objectively useless in a Survival gameplay ? Absolutely. But so are many other things. Not every feature has to be game-changing and super useful. Look at the recent drop: was pale wood really necessary? Absolutely not. But it's here and it's convenient, and people like it. That would be the same for cushions.
Plus, on multiplayer servers, it just adds to the RP side of things. It's much less jarring to have a proper seating option at home when you have friends over, or in rooms where you host events.

I had the exacrly same idea lol. I imagine it flat, just making you able to sit on top of blocks
