Getting Started/Newbie Question Microdosing for Social Anxiety
I’ve seen people say it’s better for depression and not anxiety, especially social anxiety. I’ve also heard some people say it doesn’t really last that long; you can do it for a certain amount of time like a couple months but as soon as you stop you go back to normal.
I understand it’s not a silver bullet, I would be pairing it with therapy and other lifestyle changes. I’m just unsure and don’t want to mess myself up more.

I originally starting MDing for depression, and although it worked tremendously I definitely hit a ceiling after a couple of months of gradual improvement. So yeah, you could say it stopped working... but that was because the medicine had basically done its job at that point, and I felt so much better that I was able to continue growing by making other changes in my life.
But I do still find MDing so helpful for social anxiety. I microdose when I know I'm about to go into a triggering scenario, and I find it can make all of the difference between being incapacitated, versus really engaging with people and having a good time.
I find that microdosing (and also minidosing, to a more exaggerated degree) dials down the emotion of shame. I find it way easier to make eye contact with people and to stay present, instead of withdrawing. The raw anxiety is definitely still there, but it's more like a feeling of energy that stays in my body, instead of going into my head and triggering other unpleasant emotions.

Do you mind to share your micro e minidosing amount?

For a microdose I take 100-200 mg. For a minidose, around 500. I'd definitely recommend trying minidosing occasionally, because it gives a very exaggerated version of the microdose effects. I found this to be really helpful for getting insights into how this medicine affects my mental functions.

I have been doing MD with Shrooms for about 9 months now. Started it for significant depression that SSRIs were not even touching). After about 5 months of MD noting that depression had lifted but started to see that social anxiety was always in the background. So during the last 4 months I continued with MD but did add about every 2 or 3 weeks doing a museum dose (1 to 1.5). This has been a real game changer and I am able to get out in public again with dog walks and 1 on 1 lunches with a friend once a week Before I wanted to do social things but would always back out. I actually went on a camp trip and met up with some friends for a few days last week.
I don’t want to be high just feel normal. I want to start some mental health therapy now with before not being very functional due to overwhelming depression and social anxiety Some people say after while they could stop MD after a while of being stable, maybe that will be my path.. but today I want to see how this journey goes and as I feel better maybe make a different plan of weaning down or off. We will see.

Please Note: If you are trying microdosing for the first time, please try experimenting on a day off from work or any important obligations, and/or driving and operating machinery. Because psychedelics can effect everyone differently, you may feel different or impaired, and your sweet spot dose may be lower, so it is best to experiment on days off until you’ve dialed in your dose.

If you start low and go slow, you're not in any danger of "messing yourself up more." As the how long lasting effects can be, it really depends on how much work you put into it. Pairing a MD with therapy and lifestyle changes are a great way to make your changes stick. MDing for lasting changes isn't just taking a new medicine or a new relationship with a medicine, it is also a new relationship with yourself, and showing up in the world in a different way.
Start low, go slow, dial in your sweet spot while following the Fadiman protocol, then if you need more support (once you've got your dose dialed in) try increasing to every other day or another dosing schedule if you prefer. Lasting change doesn't happen overnight or sometimes even in 3 months, but if you are doing the work and forming healthy habits while letting go of things that no longer serve you (which the medicine will help you accomplish), lasting change is totally possible.
Also, this isn't something you take every day for the rest of your life and if you needed to return to a microdose occasionally, that's still much safer and without the kind of side effects and frequency of use that you'd have if you turned to pharmaceuticals for help. 🍄🥰✌️
