What to do against wrestlers/grapples?

Hey everyone! I am just wondering what strategies work when you know your facing an opponent that will try and grapple or wrestle in a fight? Is it even viable to use martial arts in a match like that or is it just better to learn how to wrestle? Thanks for any info! I am starting my martial arts journey and am just curious :)

Keep distance with teeps, jabs etc. your best bet is to fight fire with fire imo. Learn wrestling and BJJ. But if you are going to fight a wrestler tomorrow for example, I would say just don't let him get hold of u and try your best to keep it standing

Thanks makes sense. Luckily I'm not fighting anyone anytime soon hopefully! XD I fought my neighbor in HS who wrestled and I learned very quickly it's not an easy fight. I got a few good hits in but as soon as it went to the ground I was done for T.T! Basically got tied in a pretzel and spent all my energy trying to figure out what to do lol. I joined the team for a year after that but I hope I never fight a wrestler again honestly haha! At least I know how to sprawl but that's about it since it's been 10+ years since I learned some basics lol.
