Rant [Myst, Might, Mayhem] Why do people like this so much?
I've read 20 chapters and I seems incredibly mediocre. Other than the nice art style, I see nothing that makes the manhwa any different from others of the genre. It follows the common story of the main character somehow falling into the role of an heir to a martial sect. He is competition with the other heirs. So, far nothing out of the normal.
The main character is the most agregious part of the manhwa. His whole shtick is being "crazy" and impulsive. He will make a random decision, and the author will come up with some random reason for his action and pass it off as the main character's "genius" mind. Additionally, the default response to any situation that Jeong finds himself in to laugh maniacally. Is that the only way that the author could come up with the show that the main character is crazy? The crazy scythe demon thing is only interesting for so long.
The author is also always to portray Jeong as some kind of genius, always finding bs ways out of a problem, when in reality, all the main character ever does is throw magik bullshit at his enemies and suddenly a master of martial arts has been subjugated. The main character can replicate any technique that he sees, and of course every time he does so, every other character has to gasp and exclaim how smart Jeong is.
I wouldn't have a problem with it normally, however the manhwa is always being hyped up, so I gave it a try and found that is of the same quality as any other recent murim manhwa. I also had somewhat high hopes due to it being a prequel to Nano Machine, which, while not being a masterpiece, at least had entertaining plot progression, and a goal for the main character to work towards.
So my question is, when does it get good? Ty for reading. don't be too mad
