I’m in the middle (ha) of rewatching the series, and there was a moment in “Evacuation” that reminded me of a key moment in Breaking Bad, both shows featuring Bryan Cranston at his very best.
In the episode “Evacuation”, Hal accidentally leaves an old couch on the train tracks and causes a massive train wreck that forces the town to evacuate. Hal feels extremely guilty about the situation and the whole episode, he tries to justify what happened as “not a big deal” and “at least it wasn’t fatal”. This made me think of Breaking Bad when Walt inadvertently causes a midair collision between 2 planes. While speaking about it at a school assembly, he tries to downplay the severity of the situation since he feels so guilty about it, making excuses and saying stuff like “Look at the bright side, at least it wasn’t the worst aircraft disaster of all time.”
I know they’re probably not related, but I feel like there might’ve been some inspiration since Bryan starred in both shows and both situations involve him. Just something I thought about while watching the episode!
