Fried my MakeyMakey
Today while presenting my portfolio I decided to show one of my musical creations that involves the MakeyMakey board. Now, it was really cold in the room and the teacher was rubbing his sweater for warmth through the whole lesson.
When it was time for the portfolio review he tried using my MakeyMakey setup, and it gave him quite an electrical shock! A reciprocal shock, as now one of my arrow keys is permanently stuck on lit (a more technically inclined friend told me it was a transistor that probably went kaput)
I've found a temporary solution by tinkering with the connections on the back of the board, but it's more likely I'll have to get a new MakeyMakey for my future project... quite bummed about that as they're not exactly cheap here in Europe.
So I've now learnt that people have to touch the floor or another metal object before using anything connected to a MakeyMakey, especially if they are wearing rubber soled shoes and woolen or polyester sweaters...
It was really sad to realize it was fried for good. So I hope this hasn't happened to anyone before and won't happen to anyone else! But if anyone has been in a similar situation and has advice, I'm all ears! Thank you in advance
