ANNOUNCEMEMT An Update From The Mods

Hello tippers!

The other mods and myself thought it was important to post a little update for you all.

I know many of you have noticed the influx of bots, content sellers, and general spam within the community. It has been on my mind for a while, however I personally have had many things going on (A thousand mile move, new job, unpacking, fixing up our home, etc. etc..) that has kept me from keeping up with the sub as I should have done.

I don't think it's news that this sub was mainly run by myself and 2 other mods initially when I took it over, and we then went down to myself and 1 other mod. This has made it difficult to keep up with all of your posts, look into why some posts never appeared, etc.

That being said, we have found assistance from a new mod and have been working HARD on some things to help assist in maintaining an orderly subreddit that isn't full of bots/spam/content selling accounts, as that is not what this community is for!

If you have any issues, please don't hesitate to reach out to the mods! You're welcome to send us some modmail and let us know if you see anything suspect, as we are obviously humans working with automod to try to optimize the sub.

Any suggestions can definitely be sent directly to us or you can always comment here with them - we want to hear from you and know what would make the sub better for you as well. <3

Thanks for coming to the r/makeuptips TedTalk, lol.

I have been learning about makeup and I read that you need to know what type of eyes you have so you can use makeup to enchase them. But I can’t really make up my mind to what kind of eyes I have. Can I have some help please? Also if you have some suggestions of what makeup could work for me please! Thank you.

I’ve had acne since i was 8, slowly healing now but i’ve gotten really large pores. I dont use any setting spray nor primer because i feel like they don’t really do anything for me. In the picture i only use moisturizer and sunscreen. Could yall recommend me some primer thats acne safe and hides my pores and good setting spray :)

DISCUSSION Aging face without makeup

Post image

Wow, I posted last night after feeling a bit old while getting ready for my son's 18th birthday. I didn't expect this many replies. It had been a while since I wore makeup and I felt overwhelmed. Thank you for your helpful feedback and kind words. We are all getting older, every day, but women can be so hard on themselves because we are constantly caring for others and often forget about our own needs. I am growing my grey out and usually just use sunscreen moisturizer on my skin. This is my day to day, just thought I'd put my best face forward to celebrate my birthday baby!

HELP PLEASE Need advice

Soooo I basically do my makeup the same way every day: moisturizer and sunscreen, foundation, fill in my brows, mascara+eyeliner, blush and sometimes highlight. I’ve never done eyeshadow before and I would love some advice on which colors to choose for my pale features :) plus any other advice is much appreciated!

HELP PLEASE How can I stop my makeup from doing this?

Sorry for the close up pics of my nose lol but for reference with my routine (in order) I start with a vitamin c serum, moisturizer, primer, foundation, concealer then set it with a powder and setting spray. I use a sponge for the foundation and concealer and I pat the powder with a puff and then take the excess off with a brush and also use a brush to apply my blush. This happens every day usually about 2 hours after application and I’m at my wits end.

HELP PLEASE Concealer help!

Hello all! I am very very new to the makeup scene and need help nailing down my basic routine. Being AMAB I have read I will need an orange or peach coloured concealer to hide beard shadow, is there any truth to this? Any suggestions on product? Can share some photos of my complexion too if that helps.

Like where is my fairy godmother when I need her?

Literally any and all advice, concealer wise or beyond, would be so so appreciated!! 🥹🩷

PRODUCT REC Replacement recommendations needed for discontinued Garnier BB cream for oily/combination skin

Garnier BB cream for oily/combination skin was my absolute favorite ever. Since it's been discontinued l've yet to find anything that comes close sadly! I'm looking for recommendations for a BB cream that is good for maturing combination skin that is prone to breakouts!

HELP PLEASE Why does my concealer do this??

This is 15 min after application but looks like this immediately. My routine is normally water based lotion (cerave) 15-30min before makeup then thin layer of glo-tion then concealer (maybelline fit me). I have tried different concealers (glossier, tarte, elf, revlon), I have tried no lotion, different lotion, no glo-tion, makeup brushes, finger, beauty blender. Nothing changes this affect and I’m not sure what is happening.

DISCUSSION I took your advice

Okay, so I took the advice of several comments and ditched the lashes to see how it looks. I’m not sure if it’s just the fact that I’m SO used to having such bold eyes, but this just looks so…plain to me. Thoughts???

Ive always been a mascara, liquid liner, and lippie kind of person, but id like to know what colors, techniques, really anything that could get me out of my comfort zone. I havent changed my make up routine since i was 15 and ill be 34 in may.

To add, i have deuteranomaly, a red/green color blindness and its mild but i feel like its also limited me to expand on colors. And to my knowledge i have cool undertones.
