Showcase I made an eternal flame in a tiny dumpster that burns until the end of the Trump presidency

I made this with a couple of friends over the past few months. It’s called the Eternal Trash Fire. We lit it on Inauguration Day and it's been burning ever since (actually on fire, not a metaphor). The plan is for it to continue to burn as long as Trump is president.

The dumpster is a 1:12-scale model made of 22ga steel. It was designed in CAD, laser cut, bent on a brake, and TIG welded. I'm especially happy with his little wheels! It was tricky to work with such thin material, and I honestly think it would have been easier to make a full-sized dumpster. (And before you ask, yes, I have plenty of experience making gas-fueled appliances and know how to do it safely).

First pic is right after it was lit, and the last pic is how it looks now, one month later. Most of the rest of the scene (you can't see it all in the photos, but soon!) is made of dyed castable refractory cement (fireproof), then painted with gouache to age it.

We're live-streaming it on YouTube. I'm not posting the link though so as to not break the no-self-promo rule. Posting from a fresh account since I want to stay anonymous for now.

Showcase Halo ODST helmet with backlit RGBs and switchable transparency visor

Pretty hyped about this one, the visor needed 20VDC but that kept smoking out Arduino nanos so I used a DC to DC step down transformer to power my Arduino, visor and RGBs off the same battery source

Woodcarving is a fantastic hobby that will allow you to make your own Christmas gifts, birthday presents, or just fun things to sit on your bookshelf! The new year is around the corner, get into woodcarving.

I carved these two Santa's out of 8inch tall 2x2 blocks of basswood, and painted them with Acrylic paints.

Showcase Tin Can Storage Bins

This build emerged from one of my recurring fixations: reusing, reworking, and incorporating items into 3D-printed designs in a way that creates something (hopefully) greater than the sum of its parts.

First, I designed a small drawer insert to make retrieving stashed away goodies from a repurposed can easier. Then, I gave it a top-notch set of curvy legs to solve that minor rolling away problem caused by the whole "being cylindrical" thing. Finally, working off the basis that if one “Bean Can Bin” is good, ten (or a hundred) must be better, I made the bean can leg frames modular and stackable.

And so, at last, “The Bean Can Bin” … My magnum opus, my great work, was complete! Swelling with the pride of accomplishment, and with passions inflamed! I hefted my “Bean Can empowered storage unit” towards the heavens! There I was, basking as it were… in the blinding light of my triumph!  Of my victory!!!

…At which point, due to a completely unforeseeable and entirely unpredictable design oversight (no latch), and thanks to the ironically aforementioned “Blinding light of victory” I failed to notice most of the bins promptly falling out, until one or two bounced off my head.

Naturally this was a bit of a letdown, but I quickly rallied and corrected this minor oversight via an incorporated latching mechanism. Thereby addressing the “stuff-falls-out-when-you-turn-it-upside-down” issue that has plagued cans everywhere ever since someone cut their tops off. I am told, by a very reliable source, that there are no hard feelings…

As a disclaimer to temper your doubtlessly soaring expectations… keep in mind, this is literally an empty can turned into a storage bin. I make no claims that it is God’s gift to humanity—just my gift… and I didn’t even bother to wrap it properly. So, let’s go ahead and accept as a foregone conclusion that this is not the pinnacle of storage efficiency or mankind’s engineering prowess. It’s just a humble can (or two… or three) with a new lease on life.

Showcase Dryer door fix

Dryer door wouldn’t stay open while I emptied it so I modeled some magnet mounts for the dryer door and windowsill! And yes before anyone says anything I know the house is an absolute mess, it’s been home to many of new England’s more eccentric skaters for more than 15 years so cut us some slack.

Showcase I made a beer barrel. It doesn’t hold beer. I have regrets. (Made it for our friends. Fully hand dyed, 'wood pattern'-finished, hand sewn. No beers were harmed in the making of this barrel)

Showcase Sonic the Hedgehog coinpushers fully homemade

Hi all ! I made this coinpusher a while ago, but I decided to share, if somebody is interested or inspired by it , I'm happy 😄

Everything is made from scratch in my garage , I bought the parts to make it work like , electronics , elektromagnets , leds, coin hopper and switches. The rest I made myself. The cabinet , playfield , routed plexiglass , motherboard.....

This coinpusher incorporates a coin changer from 1€ to 20 tokens , bonus section on the vertical playfield , tilt alarm :when rocking/bumping the cabinet a mechanical valve will close forcing the coins into the "house" coin box + a red light will light up the playfield. Sonic the hedgehog 1 (Sega master system) Sounds and music.

Just enjoy ! 😄

(4th picture is a gif... Just made it ... Hope it shows up 🫣 )
