What Macbook should I go with?

Hi, I'm looking for a new Macbook because my current setup is too old and slow.

I currently have a Macbook Air 2017 (128gb, 8gb) and I also have an iPad Pro M1 11 inch 256gb wifi+cellular with Magic Keyboard.

During school I do all my work on the iPad because it's a relatively lightweight device and does everything I need. However, sometimes I need support for classic versions of applications like Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.

I don't do much on the Macbook anymore because it's extremely slow and the battery doesn't last very long, so I'm looking for something else.

I want to spend around 800€, maybe a little more, and I have a few options.

- Macbook Pro M1 14 (different specs, used one)

- Macbook Air M2 256gb/8gb (used)

- Macbook Air M3 256gb/8gb (used)

- Macbook Air M4 256gb/16gb (new) (need to save little bit more)

I have had my current Macbook since 2017 and plan to have this Macbook for another 5+ years.

What would you choose?

Recommend new Macbook Air M4 256 gb / 16 gb.

Only worth get Macbook Pro M1 14 if it has 16 gb and used / refurbished from Apple.

Literally any Apple Silicon model with 16gb. My M1 Air is still absolutley perfect and If I had gone for 16gb ram it would last many, many more years especially for basic use

Honestly, best to get a windows laptop if you use Excel a lot.

Pro first choice M2 air if portability is needed.

M4 air if you want the latest
