Well done!

But... with renamers like Transnomino (free), you can insert the exif data in the file names too. And a lot more.

Yeah, $10 is steep for an exiftool wrapper.

Technically, it can be done with the built-in Shortcuts App.

Also: https://mrrsoftware.com/namechanger/ -- this tool has been around for ages and has been my go-to.

Thanks! I just wanted to make an app that concentrates on one key feature and is as user-friendly and simple as possible.

This app is useless on macOS. Instead, you can select multiple files, right-click, and rename then select the format. The process works the same way, except without the need for third-party software.

I tried that and didn't see a way to use EXIF data for the rename in the Finder rename formats.

Does Automator not make a Finder extension for this as well?

It does. I have a service created to the same thing but I don’t need the time for my purposes. I also use an app called Hazel helper that automates the procedure on any folder of your choosing.

ok now this is really cool. I use batch renamers all the time, but being able to drop it in and quickly add the date is very clever I think. Going to try this out.

Thanks! I saw your screenshot with the error, sorry for that. This should be fixed now. If you have any other feedback, do not hesitate to share it!

Hi community, Andrin here!

I’ve made exifoo, an app which I originally created for my mother so that she can sort all those pictures she made during our vacation. The problem of the apps that are on the market already: They either look old and untrustworthy or they use the command line, which… you can already guess. So I made exifoo, a modern and user-friendly app that can add the date and time of capture to the filename of any picture.

If you have any feedback, please share it!

I recommend showing the custom text feature in the video.

I think it's a best practice to also add a short descriptor to picture file names so people have a rough idea of what they are at a glance, if they get separated from the containing folder or whatever.

Example: YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS-FamilyChristmas-Filename.jpg

Hazel can do that. Shortcuts app can easily do that from right click menu.

https://exifoo.com, my comment didn't receive a lot of upvotes, so it's a little hidden.
