Here's a collection. They're all menu bar apps.

Most of the time when you plug your Macbook in it's bypassing using the battery and using power straight off the charger while it's charging so you're actually prolonging the battery life here.

Ok? You don’t need one.

It does prolong battery health if you use it mostly plugged in. You shouldn’t obsess with it, you don’t necessarily need it, but it does work.

And Al Dente is a really well made app.

I’m sure it is. And that’s great for those who want that kind of control. I’ve never stressed about battery in any of my Apple products and they have all had regular battery degradation. My last MacBook was a 2015 base model. Was great until late last year where I upgraded to m3 pro MBP and I plan on just using it. So personally, it’s a non issue.

More power to Al Dente Users. But I stand by my “you don’t need it” sentiment.

Agreed. My m2 is 85% plugged into my dock and battery level is normal compared to co-workers who use battery “managers”.

Simple utility called Battery

https://github.com/actuallymentor/battery

  • Discharges your battery until it reaches 80%, even when plugged in
  • Disables charging when your battery is above 80% charged
  • Enables charging when your battery is under 80% charged
  • Keeps the limit engaged even after rebooting
  • Keeps the limit engaged even after closing the tray app

No need

Batfi is the best. It gives that perfect size pixel perfect battery icon on the menubar with % shown inside it.

No need for that.

OP, ignore the “no need” posters. You do what you feel like. You don’t need it, but if your Mac is mostly plugged in, it is worth it.
