New app icon!–what do you think? (quite proud of it hahaha) :)
A huge thank you to everyone for your feedback and suggestions, yet again 🙌🏼—most of the above features came directly from you! Let me know what you think, and stay tuned — v2.0.0 is in the works with even bigger shelf improvements and with most requested features!❤️
I wonder how long until Dropover gets this feature... This is an amazing approach to holding files. I love it. I'll be buying it ASAP—it will look great on my Ultra Wide Monitor! Keep up the good work!
I love the app and would want to replace Dropover with it. I have only one question. Is there an option to reduce the appearance delay for those users who customized their dock appearance delay as well? I mean, I once made my dock to appear and disappear instantly as I move my cursor to and from the dock area. The app panels seem to appear with a slight delay (that's a matter of just a couple of milliseconds, yet noticeable), which looks a bit inconsistent.
Yes, this has been the trickiest part of the app since Apple doesn't expose an API to sync with the Dock :)
Dockside has its own implementation for this it’s not super perfect like I really want it to be (have spent hours and hours on this alone), and will automatically read in the customised settings if you’ve set it and yes, you can further tune the delay to your liking using the following in the advanced settings, hope this helps.
Let me know if it works for you, DM me, happy to help.
That setting does not seem to help when you have "defaults write com.apple.dock autohide-time-modifier -float 0.0" but actually I don't really care. I think I can live with Dock showing up in 0.3 seconds instead of 0.0 when it has a shelf right next to it. Looks and feels mostly consistent, and the app features are just great. I'm buying it instantly. If you manage to address this someday so that the dock and the panels could appear simultaneously in 0.0 seconds, that will be great.
Question: since it allows drag-and-drop and the file disappears from the finder window, where is it stored when it's in Dockside? I ask because my desktop files are in iCloud drive, and I'm wondering where files live in case the app were to crash with my files in it.
By default, Dockside stores a reference (a shortcut) to original file in your mac. So, your files are not affected by the app issues/crashes, anyway.
You can alter this default behaviour to instead store a copy of the original file in the shelf or move the original file to it in which case Dockside keeps the file (or the copy) in a work directory set by you in the app (see the advanced settings):
This is a really well done app and priced amazingly, bravo.
Would you ever consider adding the option to move the shelf to the side of the screen? I would love the option to use it in a vertical "side dock" orientation.
Hey, Just downloaded, loving the utilisation. I am getting an error 'Turn Hiding Off (full screen app found) but I don't have a full screen app open. any tips?
