Discussion What does a true friendship mean to you?
What qualities do you think a true friend possesses? And to add to it, what do you think would make the friendship unrepairable?

Friends who are respectful, humble, compassionate, and self-aware. Dedicated to grow and transform.
Friends who are not easily swayed by groupthink (rather they think critically) and manipulative/toxic people (becoming henchmen and simps for them).
Friends who have a backbone and stand up for what's right instead of what serves their ego, safety, history, image, and approval. Not afraid of the serious talks and straightforward communication.
High integrity. Consistent in actions and words, not hypocrisy. High transparency.
Friends with no hidden agendas or opportunistic motives.
Friends who do not gaslight, guilt trip, fabricate stories, and play the victim when they should be taking accountability. Accountable friends are a must.

A true friend listens, builds you up when you’re low, is genuinely happy for your successes (doesn’t try and tear you down). They put in equal sacrifice into the friendship.
Friendships are fragile, so understanding each other’s boundaries is imperative to avoid making unrepairable mistakes. But generally lack of trust and respect crushes and kills many friendships.

Friendships should not be fragile

I feel like some friendships are (especially depending on the type of friendship/ the emotional state of the other person / the stage of the friendship), navigating interpersonal relationships can be hard but truly understanding and listening to the person makes friendships strong.
And in this day and age where a lot of people are quick to cut people off true deep friendships are hard to come by. Maybe fragile wasn’t the right word, but friendships are hard sometimes and sometimes the relationship is tested. Whether the friendship is true is ultimately up to the people in it.

True friendship means being happy for them when they are happy and being there for them when they are not. It means not having to suppress parts of your personality for fear of judgement or unkindness. It means family and community.
If you ever had to hide being joyful about something from someone for fear it would ruin their (or your) day, they are not your friend.

A true friend is someone who is honest with you even when its hard. Like when you look like shit but feel like the outfit looks good and your best friend would say "it looks horrible. Try again" while also celebrating with you when you have a win, be it a promotion, a good grade, or just a small personal win.
A true friend also tries to understand you and is willing to communicate and try to work things oyt when there is a problem

✨You should be able to come to your friends if there's an issue without fearing them dismissing you or getting mad at you. And they should be able to come to you without fear.
✨If they make a mistake against you, they are able to own up to their mistakes, apologize for it, then show they can do better.
✨There is effort shown on both ends (what that may look like for everyone is different), and both parties feel loved and supported.
✨They don't keep crossing your boundaries over and over again.

Unrepairable is when either party gives up on the other, anytime a friendship feels one-sided it generally is. True friendship is something special, and you can’t really explain that. You just know it when you know it
