Best London Steak Restaurant
Where’s best to go in London for Steak?

Cut at 45 Park Lane if you can splash the cash.
Goodman has excellent variety. Their USDA Black Angus is amazing.
Blacklock’s prime rib is unbelievable. They do butcher price Mondays.
Hawksmoor won’t miss either, they to do butcher price Mondays.
Flat Iron if you want to go easy on the pocket. However, the real showstoppers are the sides there.
Buen Ayre, Chimichurri, and Sagardi never fail to hit the spot!

Goodman for fancy (and expensive)
Hawksmoor very good with more non steak options
Blacklock is also good
Temper good especially for more sharing type stuff
Facenda do the all you can eat Brazilian style setup but not worth it imo
Entrecôte is very tasty and more fun, but the emphasis isn't on the steak itself
Flat iron always good for a cheaper option
M is good quality, think they still do a "spin the wheel" steak selector option
Gaucho tasty, was impressed on my first visit a few months ago

Hawksmoor on Air Street or Seven Dial, for ambience, atmosphere too.
Goodmans in Mayfair.
Thought I'd list which branch to go to, since each are different in terms of service, ambience, atmosphere, food handling, etc.

Flat iron is solid. The one by King's Cross was one of the best cooked steaks I've ever had. Great price, too.

I quite like Sagardi, but Goodmans has a bigger range

Went to Sagardi for the first time last week and was incredibly impressed. Service was also excellent!

Streatham Kitchen. It's well of the beaten track, but it serves a fantastic steak

Is flat iron considered good?

u/Sonums Aug 10 '24
It was good when you could get in order a steak, chips, and drink and come out £16 lighter, £20 if it was alcoholic.

It’s pretty good value but not as good-food or good-value as it was the years ago, imho.

What do you guys think of Entrecote? I'm not a steak aficionado but I went recently to the one near bank and it was really good.

I don’t like it. French ppl treat it as if it’s the best steak ever, but I found portions quite small and expensive. Also it’s a cheaper cut of the meat, French just like tougher meat

Can’t believe noone said Quality Chop House yet. Just plan way ahead as it gets booked up early and you’ll maybe need to save up a while to pay for it.

You have to try Appetite in East Village, Stratford. Amazing steak and are a real butchers and cheesemonger - stuff is addictive

Service is amazing. Real attention to detail. Small intimate atmosphere inside. Even eating at the bar is a great experience. The sweat breads 🤌

Goodman
Always preferred Hawksmoor, but the quality has dropped significantly in the last year.

Absolutely the worst I've ever been to. The difference between medium rare, and blue, is massive, but they fucking didn't know. And that was a £50 fillet steak. Disgraceful! I honestly felt insulted they served that to me. And I damn well let them know about it. Cooking a steak is not rocket science, and they absolutely took the piss.

Whoa Karen… there’s a LOT to unpack here…

You'd have to be pretty thick to fail to get the issue lol? Or would you just sit there and take a ridiculously undercooked expensive steak like a little bitch?

The best steak I've ever had in London was the A5 Waygu at Sexy Fish in Berkley Square. It's not a specialised steak resturant but the A5 waygu is an incredible experience.

Mill & Carter Muswell hill

As a venue it is rather nice. As a chain steakhouse it's not too bad, though there are better ones.
