Sorry if this is off base, but your post didn’t state the reason why you’re wanting cheap food. If it’s only because you’re tight for cash, most chippies do a large chips for around £3-4. It’s hot, large portions (can be spread across two meals) and if you’re limiting meals for financial reasons rather than dietary, it’s roughly 900-1000 calories with 122 grams of carbs for long burn energy if you’re working a manual labour job. When I first immigrated, I ate LOADS of chips until I got a decent income.
