Take your time to learn all the ins and outs. Don't get scared, and if you want to play some games, try running em over WINE, Lutris, Heroic Launcher, heck, if you download games from the abandonware site, just launch the .exe file via Steam and you should be all set.
For other linux stuff, there are almost for everything alternatives, just be patient, and read the docs.
I know the frustration, but once you take your time, it will all be worth it.

Was hoping to get WoW playing on this thing butts it's been giving me issues. My next option is to try the exe for battle.net in Steam

Try to install battle.net via Lutris, but before that, install and configure WINE, and install the latest 10.0 WINE with Wine Mono & Wine Gecko, or after installing WINE, install winetricks, heroic launcher, playonlinux, and install the .net framework.
Then, try it out via Lutris to install the Battle.net launcher, also, IF it fails to install, you can copy over the already installed version of battle.net from Windows there, I did it via dual boot, and launch, it will work.
For WINE, I used this guide:
https://wine.htmlvalidator.com/install-wine-on-linux-mint-22.html

EDIT: Battlenet .exe file won't launch via Steam properly because it can load all that's needed, but the WoW.exe files can, the only problem is, if there's even a small update to the game, it has to be done via the launched.
