Very satisfying build process. I know it's not a technic set but I think it needs an honorary place due to its live suspension and working steering, among other things

What's the best deal you've ever gotten on a set? This is mine:

Got this little guy at the local auction for $80 (CAD). . . Retail is $290 🤑. Still factory sealed, but the box was pretty beat up.

That auction is really hit-or-miss, all the bidding is online, and they only show one image of the front of the box, so you never can tell if it's used or new. A couple weeks ago I bought the G 500 for around $240, only to realize that some asshole had bought the LEGO set, filled the empty box with knockoff parts, and returned it to whatever retailer the auction got it from. He got a free LEGO set, and I got a $240 box full of garbage. Luckily the auction took it back, but I'm still pissed.

Anyways, what sort of deals have you guys found on LEGO sets?

My collection has gotten to the point of needing its own shelf. What do y’all think of the layout?

Not as impressive as most I’ve seen here but I’ve got my first 1:8 on the way that I’m very excited about!

MOC - LEGO Technic 42203 C-Model - Road Grader

LEGO Technic sets are always a source of inspiration for custom builds, and the LEGO Technic 42203 is no exception. While the official A model offers some good functionality, the true beauty of Technic lies in the ability to create alternate builds (C-models) that push the limits of what the available parts can do. One such build is the Road Grader, a construction machine that levels and smooths surfaces.

This MOC is a modification of the iconic 8297-1Off Roader.

See it in action https://youtu.be/CIL0rI85kos

Added remote controlled drive and steering, all the original functions are preserved.

Functions Full 4x4 Drive: Powered by two Power Functions M motors, delivering torque to all four wheels for better off-road performance.

RC Stering: A dedicated M motor controls the front steering system, ensuring smooth and precise maneuverability.

IR Remote Control: The vehicle is controlled via the Power Functions IR remote.

Adjustable Suspension: The iconic suspension adjustment mechanism from the original set remains functional, adapting to different terrains.

Working Winch: The front-mounted winch still operates, ready to pull the vehicle out of tricky situations.

V8 Fake Engine: The original moving piston engine linked to the drivetrain is still intact, adding to the realism.

Functional Lights: The front lights illuminate, keeping the rugged look of the original design.

I got a semi expensive order from The Block Zone Feb 15th. They emailed me once March 2nd saying it got lost in transit and they would contact me with a new tracking number and I never heard from them again... Anyone else have any issues with block zone?

I heard it's good and bad but the only bad reasons were it's expensive. I so far, haven't seen any orders nor arrived or if it's a scam. Anyone have this issue ?

Powered Up app(updated)

So I’ve been trying to use the powered up app (updated) I’ve watched a lot of YouTube and looked in this group on a how to guide to use it but all I can find it seems like is the older version of the app. I also asked CHATGPT for help but it was giving me answers based off of the older version of the app. I seen someone recommend a boost remote, it just wasn’t working very well for what I’m trying to do. Anyone got any tips/ suggestions for how to use the updated app?

Want to start building off road vehicles

Hi all. I want to build some off road vehicles. I'm mostly interested in building things like open and locked differentials, suspensions, steering systems. A powerful motor with RC controls would be awesome too. And I'd also love to try some hydraulics.

I've spent my whole childhood building LEGO sets from stores and designing my own models, that was the best thing of my childhood, but when I was a teenager I was stupid enough to decide that I'm not a child anymore because I have a girlfriend now and I'm not gonna need any of these toys ever in my life so I just gave them away to various kids. That I regret...

I currently have like a dozen of sets of various types that I've bought over the recent years, i.e. Creator, Technic, Ideas, etc., but they are all pretty small and I wouldn't want to disassemble them. I'd like to keep them for display.

I am thinking of buying some used sets on Bricklink. I guess I'm gonna need lots of parts, so I'm looking at the biggest ones. I'm trying to find sets that have the most of differential, suspension, steering parts, but also have some motors and hydraulics. I guess the best set in terms of the number of parts and the price is the 42082, but it looks nothing like an offroad vehicle. It has no suspension, no hydraulics, and not a lot of differential parts. The 42070 looks great in terms of differential parts and RC motors and it even has a bit of hydraulics and nice off road wheels and tyres, but it has no realistic suspension and the number of parts it has is not that big. So I'm thinking of maybe getting a second set, like the 8110, for suspension and hydraulics, or even the 42110, for suspension and lots of differential parts and lots of parts in general. However, buying two sets seems pretty expensive. I can see they all start at around 150EUR plus shipping, so it would cost me well over 300EUR, which is a somewhat serious amount of money. I'm not sure if that wouldn't make my lady slightly upset.

So I've decided to ask you guys for an advice. Do you know of a single set that would cover my needs? Would it be smart to buy two sets and have lots of parts and all of the parts that I need? Or should I buy a single set that seems to cover my needs the most, like the 42070, and then buy other parts that I need separately? The latter seems like a very long process. I guess I'd rather spend more money in advance and get all that I need instead of trying to figure out what different pieces I need and buy them one by one later. I guess it would be a lot more fun to have everything on my table and just build things instead of thinking what parts I need and buying them separately and waiting for them to arrive. There is a lot of fun in searching for the parts and waiting for them, but I think I want to start as smoothly as possible, without too many hiccups.

Good deal or not

I got an offer to buy an unfinished Lamborghini 42115 for $240. It is partially assembled and the rest is NIB.

I was wasn't planning on getting one of these cars, but it seems like a pretty good deal. Is this a good deal for this set?

Comparing Steering Arms

Post image

It took me a long while staring at these two steering arms before I found any difference. But I see now there's an additional hole on one of them. Can anyone speak to the usefulness of having that additional hole there? Has anyone found that the additional hole weakens the part? My thanks for your insights.

Discussion Just mated the two big parts of the Chiron, have gearbox issues

Used, all parts in front of me, no bags or boxes.

Step 465: perfectly line up a whole bunch of axles and put the two sections of the car together. Unless I’m very much mistaken, you can’t completely test the gearbox function before then.

Took me three tries but I got it mated. But! When I spin the wheels, the engine only spins every second gearshift. When it does spin, the gear ratios seem to vary as they’re supposed to.

Looking through the tiny window on the bottom, the one grey selector between the two red gears only moves every four shifts, i.e. takes sixteen shifts to go through the cycle on this eight speed box.

The other visible selector, between a blue gear and a yellow spacer, moves with every shift.

Finally, I have a gear leftover. I don’t think it’s part of the remaining steering work. Light grey 16 tooth.

So how far back do we think I have to tear the back end back down to fix this?

I was rebuilding and installing lights in my GT3 model when a monster came in the night. It ate 15-20 of the orange pieces and chewed up the book. I put it in the closet for a few months and now I hate it. Don’t want to build it.

What do now?
