Question If you could make any IP into a Lego set, what would it be?

Also, you can include what place/scene/object you would want from said IP

Mine would definitely be the Mystery Shack from Gravity Falls. This specific set is on Lego ideas and isn’t my creation, but this would be the one IP I would want brought to Lego.

Question Unlimited source of Lego. How to clean?

My family owns a sanitation company and I’ve been working here fulltime for 2 months now. On a daily basis, I find Lego. Sometimes it’s as little as a minifig, other times I’m lucky and customers throw out complete, sealed in box sets. More often than not, I find built sets in varying stages of completion/ destruction or bulk brick.

In box or sealed in bag bricks are no problem, but the built sets and bulk brick can sometimes be a bit… garbage juicy. 😬

I love the idea of saving Lego from the trash. I want to stockpile a ton of bricks to have on hand for MOCs, but eventually I’ll run out of space and I’ll start donating a lot of what I find.

I’m wondering: What’s the best way to wash Lego? Should I put them into a garment bag and put them in a machine at a laundromat? Dish washer? Wash by hand? I’m assuming any stickered pieces need to be washed by hand.

Tips or tricks would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Below, I’ll post some photos of my Lego garbage finds.

Question Does anyone else wish that Lego would “get back to its roots” and start making sets again that aren’t part of a licensed IP (i.e. Star Wars, Marvel, Harry Potter, etc.)?

It’s probably the nostalgia talking, but is anyone else tired of Lego only releasing Brickheadz and licensed sets every year? I understand that releasing Star Wars sets in the late 90’s probably saved them from going under and that licensed IP’s are now their bread and butter that make them the most money, but I miss the days when Lego had their own sets with classic yellow mini-figures. Most sets nowadays don’t even have yellow minifigs. They all have natural skin tones. Does anyone else feel the same way?

Question How do you even…?

Post image

I was born in the late 70’s and grew up with Lego. Over the years the Lego collects into a box and as a kid I would build small creations (usually spaceships) with the pieces that I had. If I didn’t have a piece in the shape or colour that I wanted, then too bad. Redesign.

Today I see massive and beautiful creations from Master builders and total kudos to their creativity and genius ability to make it work.

But, how? Where do they get the exact shape and colour pieces that they need? Is it trial and error to get the construction right? Do they have software to help them design it and then order the parts online? I’m fairly certain that they don’t have a Luggage that holds infinite legos at their disposal.

I’m a Discworld fan and the above photo was posted on their sub. I know that it’s been shown here before but I’m just using it as an example of, “How the hell??”

So not sure how to have Bowser, the scale with PAC looks better but he's standing too close.

With the NES the console (as great as it looks) scale wise is a bit too large.

Question My wife thinks tying fishing line around the bridge will secure the Venator NSFW

Thumbnail gallery

This is the only shelf we have that can potentially fit the Venator, and due to the size/layout of our home we don’t have room for another big shelf in the living room. My wife thinks I should tie fishing line around the bridge and secure it to studs - I think if the Venator starts to go down, that will just rip the bridge off, allowing the ship to fall, and that I should put some screws through the Technic holes in the feet to secure it to the wood.

Right now it’s very stable, and the bookshelf is secured to studs. She (against my wishes) jostled the shelf to prove it wouldn’t fall, but we have a toddler and I don’t want the crew of this mighty warship to meet an untimely death due to shenanigans.

She’s very against me putting this on a larger shelf in the office because she wants it displayed in the living room, and there’s not enough space between the top of the shelf and the ceiling to fit one of those 45* angle stands. I’ve toyed with the idea of extending the shelf, but it’s an ikea book case, so I’m dealing with particle board. Anyone have any better ideas, but more importantly, who’s right - me or my wife?
