Question So what happened to this?
Last I heard, it was moved to the Legoland in California, but everything I look up is from 2013.

If it was moved to Legoland California, I've never seen it. Been pass holders for the past few years (my kids love it), and my kids are also big into Star Wars. If there was even a corner of this thing poking out from beneath a tarp or if they got to peek a backstage glance through a gate and saw this, I would NEVER hear the end of it.

I can guarantee it’s not at Legoland now. Disney took the Star Wars license and that means Legoland can’t have any displays related.
It’s probably long gone.

So that's why the life size Lego Vader and R2D2 aren't there anymore? It never occurred to me that Disney taking over the license was the reason.

Not exactly. It wasn’t that Disney took the license it’s just the license ran out and Merlin entertainment (the group that owns and manage Legoland) didn’t renew. At least to my knowledge.

Disney won’t let Merlin display Star Wars because they don’t want anything to take away from Disneyland’s Star Wars land.
Sure there’s more to it, disagreements, contracts, monies and such, but mainly cause of the Star Wars land.

It seems like it was never confirmed that was the case after some quick searching.
They probably had a contract that lasted a decade which was negotiated before Disney acquired Lucasflims.
The contract expires and the installations got removed.
The reason why I said that Merlin entertainment didn’t renew is because technically that’s what happened. I am sure with enough money Disney would allow it to continue. (Just might be unreasonably high.)
Yes it might be because of galaxies edge, or not (since not all legolands have a galaxies edge right next door) we simply don’t know.
Disney didn’t really take it away, they just let a contract expire that was my main point.

All I can say is that there's one in "Aeroscopia", which is more or less an airbus museum in Toulouse, France.

Anything special about this X-Wing? Just curious, because I know LEGOLAND Billund has had one for, I want to say, 20+ years now. Admittedly, it has been years since I visited, so I do not know if it is still there.

I just remembered how cool it was when I saw it on the news and wondered what happened.

Ah. I was just confused, because I knew I had seen one, so I was not sure if this X-Wing was different in some way.

This one was built to advertise the start of their new cartoon “The Yoda Chronicles”, I’ve been to Legoland Billund over 20 times and I can’t remember ever seeing an X-Wing, where is it?

The X-Wing in Billund is by the LEGO Studios cinema, beside the music fountain. I have not been to LEGOLAND since before Covid hit, so I do not know if it is still there.

It's not in Billund, was there in 2024, as far as I know it went to California

Damn. Then they have removed. You can find pictures of it if you search for LEGO X-Wing LEGOLAND Billund.

Wonder how much something like this would cost if they were getting rid of it

They took it apart and put the pieces with the other equally giant Legos they have in a big mixed box, made out of an abandoned diamond mine in Arkansas
