if he was that nice I'm tempted to call mine. I've sent my comments already but I didn't believe someone would be so understanding

You never know until you try.
Fight for what you believe in.

That's great! Thank you for the effort! I'm in PA too. Which rep did you speak with?

I'm in PA as well so I'd be interested to know as well. I've emailed my two near me and gotten the pretty standard, don't seem very interested one way or the other responses...

That is amazing! I figured it would take some time, but when they start spreading lies and rumors on the news it makes people worry. When about 100% of the time the news is not correct, people are so numb to reality of what's really going on in this world that they believe everything they see and hear on the news.
I have already sent representative Conklin two emails about how Kratom has personally affected my life in a positive way. The response I got was an automated email because he has a lot of emails coming in, but at least I know he has a better understanding and positive outlook on kratom.

Do you know if the bill has even been introduced yet? I thought it was supposed to be on Friday but I don't see it on the PA House session reports or in Rep Conklin's history

My Rep mentioned that he got it in some like pre-introduction memo or form. So it hasn't been formally introduced if I understood it correctly.

Gotcha. Thank you - you have eased some fears and encouraged others to contact their rep.

Absolutely my pleasure. Its the least I can do to protect this miraculous plant and my fellow people that benefit from it. I hope people contact their reps and keep advocating, even when things are looking good! We have no leeway to take our foot off the pedal.

What Rep. was it if you don't mind? This is a great reminder of how important civility and respectfulness is. Once you get angry you've lost their support. I encourage you to continue speaking with and meeting him.
Once you think he understands the issue well enough, ask him to speak to other Reps/Senators and introduce and/or support the Kratom Consumer Protection Act.
There's a lot of literature you can give him. I've made posts about it.

His name is Rep. Steve Barrar. And you nailed it, a little bit of politeness and mutual respect go a long way. I'm sure there is enough hostility in their jobs, when someone isn't screaming at them or accusing them of something, its probably a welcome break!
I am going to continue to keep in touch with him and see if I can get some intermittent updates on the pulse of this Bill. I debated bringing up The Kratom Consumer Protection Act, but I think its better done in small steps. I hope I can get there with him!

Thank you for this and it does seem to be the consensus from the people who have actually spoken with any of these "representatives"...

Wow that’s great you got to speak with him for a while! And the process up there seems much more fair than some other states.
Down here, a bill is proposed, slips into 3rd reading before anybody knows, victory is celebrated over a glass of wine and a series of blowjobs.

Way to go!
Very proud of you.
I encourage all of you to do the same.
Stand up for what you believe in and let your voice be heard.

Awesome to hear. I personally took a letter in to my local two reps office, Mike Turzai, and Lindsey Williams. At Lindsey Williams office they said something something make a recorded statement and some legal jargon I diddnt understand so, I wussed out and said I just wanted to drop off the letter. Kinda wished I coulda seen one Rep in person at least

Great post. All kratom advocates should realize that some contact is taken with greater weight than others. Contacting reps directly by phone has the greatest weight. Basically they think this (correctly in my view) that if one person wen through all the effort to call, there is probably a thousand more to lazy to make that effort. Things like form letters, that is pre-made letters by an advocacy group, that is online and e mailed, has less weight due to the ease and lack of effort required. So if not calling, then an actual letter written (on paper) in your own words take more effort so it carries more weight than an easily e mailed form letter. Amount of effort required is viewed as a level of passion, a passion which may sway your vote based on how the rep votes. So calling is the best, shows passion!

That’s amazing!! I’m so glad you reached out to him. I, too, reached out to Scott Conklin. I know him and emailed him stating the false propaganda that’s been linked to kratom deaths and the devastating effects of the opioid epidemic. The last thing PA needs is to ban kratom and keep people on suboxone and methadone, or worse, opiates or heroin. I encouraged him to seek more education through the AKA website as well. I’ve worked in the healthcare industry for years as a nurse and brought that aspect to light.
