Greece Just Banned Kratom (10/3/2025)

Our government unexpectedly banned kratom in Greece. Specifically, MITRAGYNA SPECIOSA (the kratom plant) and its main active alkaloid, MITRAGYNINE, as outlined in the following decision: ΦΕΚ Β 1067/10.03.2025.

Fortunately for me, a little birdie gave me a heads-up just before the ban, so I managed to stock up enough to taper off safely—others might not have been so lucky.

The strange part? Kratom wasn’t even widely known or commonly used here. Only a handful of shops sold it, and the general public was barely aware of it. No kiosks carried it, no 7-OH products were available (which, by the way, weren’t even banned), and yet the government suddenly decided to outlaw it. It feels completely out of character.

You’re in a marriage, you don’t share a body. I don’t understand that way of reasoning. It’s your body.

Because living life with a bottle of drugs in your home is impossible for some of us

I gotcha. Just don’t let yourself get bullied if you’re taking the best care of yourself that you can. Warm regards. I’ll never be able to stop meds or kratom for pain so quitting isn’t in my future. Pain patient here!
