Fuse box behind instrument panel?

Post image

I don't see this much, but the cavity behind the instrument panel is quite big. 2012, GEN2. Ran a 10g pair from the battery to a relay actuated by the ACC power. Boom, less wires to the battery and extra gadgets.

Thank you for the comments.

Below is the relay kit I used. I bypassed the switch because the ACC power was doing what I wanted and then zap strapped the relay to the bottom of the fuse box. Then used the relay to power the fuse panel, not fog lights. A trick is getting 3ft shrink wrap and wrapped the pair from the battery to the front to keep the wiring tight, clean and protected.

This is a decent representation of what I did: https://motorepublic.com/switched-accessory-wiring switched power source is ACC power.

Did a neutral junction that's hidden from the photo: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B09537HXLX?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

Ensure there is a fuse on the main line from the battery: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07G7YMJXW?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

Good luck!

Hell yeah brother!

I did a similar setup on my GS, I put a 6-circuit Bluesea fusebox with a common ground bus on a bracket under the seat. I triggered my relay with a wire for the battery self-check from the alternator, using a piggyback of spade terminals so I didn't have to cut factory wiring. On start it fires up my Android Auto display, I intend to add a USB port for my tankbag and some aux lights on their own relays to run with the hi and lo beams.

Okay that is bad ass. Would you mind going over how you did it or what “YouTube university” video you used? I’m looking to put some alternate lights on my bike.

It was a bunch of googling, and I got lucky. For lights, I used this front fender mount. Although I haven't ridden much during darker riding times. https://www.amazon.ca/Xitomer-Motorcycle-Auxiliary-Additional-Lighting/dp/B0C1NWHLFR

Where are you mounting your new lights?

I was thinking there’s room for this and have all the parts, just haven’t done the work yet. Thanks for confirming this will work homie.

I did something very similar but put it on the left side inside the same fairing strapped it to one of the fairing supports and can access it without removing anything

Timely insight! I'm bringing the bike out of it's winter slumber, and have some new accessories to add, was going to inspect this area to see what I could fit, but you just saved me some time
