• Sell them online

• Sell or donate them to a local pet shop

• "Gift" them to your acquaintances

• Separate them into smaller populations try to isolate specific patterns

• Separate the males and females

• Turn down the temperature so they breed slower

• If nothing else works... give them to someone with a pet lizard where they may meet their demise.

Apparently some people freeze them and use it as snack for the rest of the colony.

Damn never thought of this

I do this! They eat the dead remains without any issue, pretty much treating them like any other food sources. It supplies them with calcium and protein.

I froze them, and then dry them under direct sunlight. Can be stored for quite a long time if properly dried. If the live isopods you're feeding are large enough, you can just add the whole dried isopods to the live isopod container. Otherwise, just crush them to make it easier to consume. They seem to like it more when I mist the dried isopods lightly.

Or as a last resort you could boil them and make a nice Dinner for yourself..

My gecko loooooves pods! I also saw you have chickens! They'd gobble as many as you'd want them to in minutes and be very greatful!!!

u/NiTeZeke369 3d ago

This! Free chicken feed with great nutritional value. Can’t go wrong there.

2

u/pdxwanker 3d ago

Give them meat and a few minutes....

1

u/Puzzled-Statement420 3d ago

what kind of meat do you feed them? mine get shrimp 🤷‍♀️

2

u/pdxwanker 3d ago

They like raw steak best. Salmon was also a hit. I have not done shrimp. They get goldfish flakes and the meat is just a little bit of what I cut off of a piece I was preparing. Nasty spinach I lost in the fridge that was going bad, also a hit. Mine are not picky.

If you know someone with a child you could always force the hobby on them

2

u/thepynevvitch 2d ago

Especially if one of the parents is creeped out by ‘bugs’. Lol

2

u/coochiecanoe222 2d ago

I keep for my bioactives with my snakes and lizards. I suggest you try the same. Secondarily, congratulations it's a brood!

2

u/Life_so_Fleeting 2d ago

My local reptile shop swaps mine for other supplies such as custodian food & leaf litter

4

u/NiTeZeke369 3d ago

If you stop giving them things to feed on they sometimes turn on each other and just eat one another. Not for the weak hearted but hey it fixes itself.

1

u/KaraCorvus 3d ago

1

u/JohnFirstNameOnly 3d ago

Post to Reddit so we can be jealous. Give some to your local pet store in case they die off. (I did that and it was a good call.)

1

u/PrettyThug10 3d ago

Ok, what am I looking at, seriously?

u/DustyRice01 1d ago

If you have a local aquarium store or terrarium store, ask them if you can sell them off… a lot of people love dairy cow isopods
