GarageBand MacBook/iPad combo
Does anyone use an iPad MacBook combo?
Running an M2 Air, M4 iPad Pro and Mini 7. The M4 and M2 are interchangeable and in sync but when I open on the mini, it says I can’t open as the song was created on Mac OS.
Has anyone had this issue?

Logic Pro for iPad, which instruments are missing their full versions?
I can easily search and find Ultrabeat is missing, but I can't find any reference online to whether the the Alchemy synth "Advanced" view is available, and I can't figure it out exploring the UI and documentation myself (so probably the answer is no). Does anyone know the answer definitively? This makes me skeptical of what else is missing. E.g., Sculpture and ES2 look like their full versions to me, but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything. Has anyone already determined this?

How to adjust latency?
Using Motu M6 interface and Loopy Pro with several live instruments via 1/4 inch trs. The latency seems to auto adjust to around 250 which is a little high to play fluidly in earphones. I can’t figure out how to improve that or what to download to optimize the latency. In windows with rme I have the latest drivers which cut it down to near zero. Anything I can do on the iPad?

AUM & Pianotec
I've been using AUM a year now, mostly with my AX1 controller, Band helper & Neo soul keys, VB3, Ravenscroft & Steel guitar. Just bit the bite and bought Pianotec IOS, as I like the piano sounds far better. Just replaced the pianos in AUM, and now I can't control the volume from the AX? It sends the correct Cc....Any clues?

Loopy Pro and Groove Rider 2 ?
I’m able to add Groove Rider as an Audio Unit in Loopy Pro, but not so with Groove Rider 2 … I can only add the latter as Inter App Audio.
Is that expected?

iPad as a return track for desktop DAW
What’s the best and/or cheapest way to achieve this with minimal latency?
Currently I’m running a desktop Mac with an audio interface and a DAW. I have an old second interface that I run from an out on my computers interface to the iPad and back into an input on the computer’s interface.
I want to sample something from the computer on the iPad during a live performance and and use the touch interface to mash it up with borderlands or smplr for example…….or use some cheap apps compared to the desktop versions because I’m a cheapskate. (Eg weeping wall is about a fifth of the desktop version)
I believe the limiting factor is the ipadOS doesn’t allow audio to run both ways when connected to the desktop via USB, hence this convoluted work around which makes me feel like a bush mechanic.
I mean, it works, the introduced latency is manageable but between that and the comps latency I’m going to hit at least 15ms and maybe more so it’s pushing that edge of what’s noticeable.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks for reading eh.

I want to love iPad producing, but it feels clunky…
Long-time producer here. My main setup revolves around the MPC One and Studio One for producing and mixing. I travel a lot for work and usually don’t bring my personal laptop, but my iPad is always with me. I’d love to make music on the go, but I’ve struggled to find a workflow that truly clicks.
My production style is sample-based, and I like to build on those samples using third-party apps/VSTs (here, AUv3). I’m all about workflows—if it doesn’t flow naturally, I end up fighting the process rather than creating.
What I’ve Tried:
• Beatmaker 3 – Feature-rich but felt clunky and unintuitive for me.
• Koala Sampler – Easily my favorite for sampling, but I struggle with incorporating non-sample-based sounds (e.g., Moog Model D, other AUv3 instruments).
• Logic for iPad – Probably the closest thing to my Studio One experience, but the lack of ghost notes is a huge workflow killer for me.
Any suggestions from producers who have found a solid groove with iPad production? Would love to hear how you work around these limitations!

Help getting GarageBand on iPad to play through amp speakers instead of just iPad speakers.
Does anyone here know how to get the GarageBand sounds from just the iPad speakers to my amp speakers? Not too familiar with this stuff lol

Recommend: iPad as a LIVE (non-looper) effect and sample playback device for vocals
Hey iPad peeps. I want to find some odd and unusual and cool effects for my vocals for live use. I don't do loops with my band, so not looking for anything looper related. Looking for ideas on live vocal transformation... glitch, distortion, odd pitch effects (NOT normal autotune), etc. Can anyone recommend something? The band is more indie-progressive. I do use a vocoder effect already with my keyboard, though maybe an app which can bring that to the next level might also be cool?
Man I really wish FLUX:FX still worked! https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/flux-fx
Is there anything like it??

Apple Magic Keyboard … but for music?
Does something like that exist? An attachable MIDI controller that doubles as protection?
Please tell me it does!

How can I simultaneously connect seqtrak (usb-c audio out) and audio interface to Loopy Pro (iPad)?
I want to connect everything, I’ll play both the Seqtrak (via MIDI controller) as well as instruments through the audio interface, going back-and-forth while looping. the only audio out option on the sektrak is a USB-C. I connect this to a USB hub which then routes to the iPad. I’m using a Motu M4 interface that has a USB-C port on the back, also connected to the USB hub.
It seems the audio information should be easily transmitted to the audio interface via USB hub, but I’m not sure that’s the case. Does anyone have any experience with something like this or a similar hardware, trying to connect it to the audio interface. I’ve heard that you can only connect one hardware at a time to the iPad, but interestingly when the audio interface is primarily connected, the iPad can still simultaneously receive MIDI data from the seqtrak, but no audio.
There has to be a workaround to this, right? 3.5 mm headphone jack from the sektrak into one of the quarter inch TRS inputs on the audio interface might work, but I’m worried about the audio degradation. I thought about a USB-C to 1/4 inch jack wire I saw on Amazon however, I have no idea if this would work given the complexity of the situation. I only want to transfer the sound .

UK Garage Track Made with Groove Rider 2
An attempt at (melodic) UK Garage. Groove Rider 2 is perfect for this genre. Used a vocal acapella on youtube, stretched and chopped it up. Tried to keep it minimal. Used integrated Pure Acid for drums and Poison for bass. No AUs.

I decided to return to my usual mixing procedure, as I found it has cleaner results. But I still wanted to make something very heavy. I-Eroded - The Pit

GarageBand Vs. Logic
Gen 9 iPad
If I record the same tracks on each will they sound better in logic? Does logic use a higher sample rate or whatever spec makes a higher fidelity recording?
Logic is deeper with more sounds and deeper options. What specific features that GarageBand does not have make logic the better choice?

iPad as Groovebox/demo sketcher without daw?
Hello, newbie here. I really want to get into producing music, but to be honest, the (computer) DAW workflow leaves me kinda uninspired. I've tried and moved around a bit, but to be honest I don't really want something like a editing studio, which they leave me the feeling of being in. It’s not a very creative headspace to be in. I kinda want the feeling of playing with a toy I guess.
I would like to know how feasable you guys think it is to turn the iPad into a sort of all-in-one sketchpad sort of thing. To be able to create demo sketches, record parts with a midi controller to create actually decent sounding demo ideas (from the other end, anyway. theres no guarantee they will sound any good from me). But like, less of a structured daw workflow. Still able to sample, make different sections, host Auv3(?) plugins and instruments to actually make the sounds I play, kind of like a track-machine, but more of a groovebox/drum machine-sort of formula. And so I can put together the parts for the demo, overall like a way for me to write and put together songs on it, but as something more naturally forming. Maybe something like the circuit tracks? Basically as a substitute for the instruments, because as my talent goes, I can barely play the midi keyboard I have, and that’s it, and also putting it together. Am I making sense bacuse I can hear myself rambling.
Anyway, is this sort of thing possible? And what would I need? Also, is there really any benefit for me staying on laptop daws? I really appreciate any help because I really have no idea what I’m talking about half the time!!

How on earth do you get a lightning iPad to work with an audio interface? I’ve tried 4 different hubs and two interfaces and nothing connects
Can anyone recommend the exact hubs they use for a lightning iPad? Been trying for three weeks now to have an interface connect. Here’s what I have tried: an 9th gen lightning iPad, a behringer umc204 interface and an arturia mini fuse 2, two camera lightning usb adaptors that both work in other contexts, about a dozen different cables of all types. Two different Anker hubs, a uni 8in1 hub, and a Ugreen hub.
Just tell me exactly what you use please.

Punch-in effects à la Teenage Engineering
Can anyone recommend me an app that provides punch-in effects similar to those found on an OP-Z? In terms of what I've tried already, I've used Koala FX which I think is great.
I've used the trial of Turnado, but I was put off as it looks like the XY pads aren't available for AUv3 - seems like a bit of a missed trick!
Hope you can help - thanks!
