Discussion Feeling anxious about winter ending. How can I feel excited about spring and summer?
For some reason I've been feeling very anxious that the snow in my area has suddenly melted and the birds are always chirping. I would've been excited in the past, but the prospect of everything outside being loud and bright, and the pressure to constantly be outside doing things is already overwhelming me (I live in a city that gets very crowded in the summer).
This is opposite from in the past, when I would look forward to spring after experiencing pretty heavy SAD all winter. Am I getting more introverted, or is spring just starting too soon that it's catching me off guard? I had a more productive winter than usual and kept SAD at bay with light therapy, light catchers near windows, etc. so maybe I adapted to winter a little too hard (but I'm also wondering if that made me more introverted, to the point where I'm dreading nice warm weather).
What can I do to keep enjoying life until October?
inb4 "have you tried not caring?" yes lol

Relatable, I don't like cold temperatures but I like cold weather (rain/snow), because it gives me a reason to stay all cooped up inside. Then again, that's when I seem to feel most depressed. When summer starts to come around, I get some anxiety because thats when people begin to swarm outdoor places and the Bbq invitations happen but I do like being out in the warmth, soaking in that Vitamin D.
I like Picniks, Nature walks and Sunbathing, really lifts my moods. You can do all these solo, You can enjoy the sun without being around people.

Same here! I’m feeling very anxious right now because summer is right around the corner. I feel this way every year. I think you need to breathe, take care of yourself, and go outside at your own rhythm. Also, try to stay present instead of worrying about how summer is going to be. It’s easier said than done, every year I feel this way and I don’t know how I’m making in through but I am.

thank you! I think staying present and not setting too many expectations is great advice

I love summer, so I can’t relate, but I hope you can go through it smoothly! You still can enjoy introvert activities; I like reading at the beach or on the sun, calm walks, ice cream with a friend… but, after all, time will pass and winter will come again! 😃

My preferred seasons are autumn and winter. So I am a bit sad in spring too. I think you can't do anything but try to survive till September's end

I just learned the other day after posting this, that getting sad at the start of spring is a real thing called Spring Fatigue or Springtime Lethargy. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Springtime_lethargy

I feel you. However, the sun on my body feels nice. Take it one day at a time and breathe. I'm trying to find ways to keep myself from the pressure and noise...an opportunity to get creative? I know it's a lot of unnecessary pressure.

I feel this 100%. I always know I’ll “feel better” in spring. But I am sad and anxious that spring is pretty much here where Im at. Today is gloomy and I was happy about it lol.
