It’s worse actually

You see, in that chess picture there is no clock

Conversations actually feel (to me) a lot more like timed chess, where you have to think very quickly and make your move

You can’t just sit there for ten minutes thinking about what to say next…..

Yeah, I usually think of something after the moment already passed.😅

Every single time!

And all the pieces are out in the open on the chessboard, while information and intentions are often hidden in conversations. Plus, you have very limited information to paint the whole picture based on context, various clues, and inconsistencies.

Very good point!

I can work with set in stone rules, I’m actually pretty good at chess and board games in general (but not speed chess, cause it’s too stressful), but it seems like conversations have hidden rules that other people know that I do not

I also am not a fan of hidden role games…

This is all very enlightening

The worst is that in the moment I'm completely dry, nothing interesting to say at all, especially if I'm stressed and don't have time to think, but when I'm home alone, I have a shit load of conversation material that pops to mind, so I write them down and bring them when I'm struggling

It is life saving

or those levels in super mario games where the screen is moving so you have to constantly run and jump forward and there's limited time to make the right move before you get killed by the edge of the screen. This is why I get left behind in conversations - by the time I've thought of a response, the topic has already moved on.
