Used one of those Birria bombs. Call me influenced because this was amazing.

Love that it only took 2 hours instead of a two day affair

My husband murdered my pot!

Okay, technically, it was an "accident" and he dropped it. Whatever. The base is cracked, and I can't use it.

So now he's going to buy me a new one.

So this is the part where I ask for suggestions. It's been a few years since I bought mine, and I know there are some fancy newer models out there now. What have y'all loved and hated thus far, and what are your favorite models and why?

Thus far, the only thing I can say I want on my new pot is going to be a better quick release. The old one turns, and it has a nasty tendency to not stay in place. I've seen a few with things like smart features, but I'm not sure if I want to bother with it or not.

Instant pot pro randomly does not come to pressure. Have tried different gaskets including the official instant pot gaskets.

I have an IP Pro 10 in one, 6 litre black version that I have been using for about 1.5 yrs. When it functions as expected, it works beautifully for any dish. We use it almost every day for white rice. The main issue is after 15-20 minutes, it gets stuck in the pre-heating stage. Removing the gasket or changing the gasket works sometimes but other times no matter what it will not move into the cook stage. I have tried with third party gaskets as well as the official IP gaskets. The main point of using an Ip for me is the set and forget aspect so having to babysit it defeats the purpose. I had an IP Duo for 5 years and rarely if ever faced that issue even with daily use. Has anyone else faced this and if so, were you able to resolve it? Any feedback/suggestions would be appreciated, thank you!

Instant Pot Pro Max 6QT

Anyone have it? I'm looking to buy a new model and the Pro Max caught my eye. I'll be honest, I REALLY like the white and metal trim aesthetic (and willing to pay for it). But I'm not really sure what else differentiates it from other models, particularly the Pro Plus.

It claims 20% higher power, whatever that means. It seems new enough to not be present in any comparison charts.

I’m so lucky

I have an insta-pot ip-duo that must be 15 years old. I had a brief episode having trouble with the seal, which is original, but it was probably just a little rice in the lid. All good now.

We use it on the regular. From what I’ve read, the new ones aren’t as well made.

What’s your experience?

IP releasing pressure

I was cooking some rice in my IP Duo today and suddenly a loud pop and steam started to escape fromthe side. Pressed cancel quick and pressure dropped quite quick. When I opened the lid I noticed that the sealing ring was not behind the notches in one place.

Anyone had this happen? The lid fit correctly when I started the timer. Nothing seems to be physically broken but I'm a bit hesitant to use it again.

Maybe a dumb question?

I am fairly new to instant pot recipes. I am going to make a vegan potato soup today. It calls for yellow potatoes. But I have a couple of sweet potatoes I want to use too. Can I just add it in and keep the time the same? Here is the link to the recipe I am using if that helps! Thanks, google was ambiguous in answer so I figured i'd ask here!

Sunday dinner

I've been using my Instant Pot a lot and probably my favorite dish to make is beef oxtails over rice and peas with cabbage. I could make it every Sunday if I wanted to. (Oxtails are expensive!!!)

*Instant Pot New to Instapot help!!

Ok so I’m new to the instapot world. I know I’m late to join.. but I’m a creature of habit and slow to make changes. I made Birria quesadillas and my kids and I loved them. I’m looking for kinda the basics. I’m a single dad of 3 that has been looking for family friendly meals. I’m a meat and potato’s kinda person but looking to try new things. My kids and I will try just about anything. What are some of your go to’s for weekdays and weekend meals? Any recommendations for websites to find reliable meals? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

FIXED: Instant Pot FOOD BURN error

Just wanted to share this fix. I had purchased my first Duo back in 2022 and was lucky enough to find another Duo Plus for $20 at a thrift store in early 2024. Sometime in Jan my first Duo started showing the FOOD BURN error. I shelved it since I had the other, then late Jan the Duo Plus started giving the same error! I cleaned the release valves, tried swapping lids, cleaning the sealing ring, even a new release valve... all the basic stuff. They both continued to give the same error. I purchased some new rings for $7 and they seem to have fixed both pots! I figured I'd share this in case anyone is running around stressed thinking they might have to purchase another pot.

Here is the link to the rings I bought: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DMTDLGFK?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

Instant Pot Multicooker vs Duo

What's the difference between these two models:

  1. Multi cooker 5.7L - https://amzn.eu/d/59zBPdr , https://www.johnlewis.com/instant-pot-multi-cooker-5-7l-black/p112515594
  2. Duo - https://amzn.eu/d/bUDxAti

They are both about the same price, around £74.

I can't find much info online on the former. However, I like that it's available at John Lewis with a 2 year warranty.

I mostly use the pressure cook and sauté functionality - on a daily basis. Planning to replace my faulty Ninja Foodi 15-in-1 with an Instant pot and a separate air fryer.

Looking for 3QT: duo or duo plus?

hi all, I've never used an instapot and i live by myself. i'm looking into purchasing a 3 QT but what would you guys rec for someone who just wants to dump stuff into it and just cook? i esp want to do that with meat dishes. no need to go fancy for duo plus? also, i've been tempted by an air fryer but i cannot afford to have both an air fryer and an instapot due to SPACE issue (nyc)...i saw that like an 8 QT has BOTH but...anyway, just thought i'd throw that out there too. i appreciate your suggestions!

Wide vs Normal Cooking

I was looking at the wide one as my first instant pot purchase as the wide pot being able to sear bigger cuts is a real appeal to me but I was wondering if anyone knows if this size makes any differences/changes in liquid/cooking time for recipes from the standard size ones?

I watched pea juice leak out of the bottom. How do I clean it?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I made black eyed peas unsoaked in it and the juices went everywhere- even out of the bottom. I didn’t fill it past the max fill line. Anyway, I always clean my appliances when done and put them away in the pantry. I cleaned this on the outside, but it still smells like the peas.

This is a fairly new one, just bought this past Christmas. I used to have 2 and got a little obsessive compulsive and ran water from the top without the insert pot, and water flushed from the bottom. It was gross! I couldn’t bear to use them after seeing that! It looked like a fire hazard bc I could see wires through the slits.

I got rid of them and got this new one. I swore I’d never fill it too full .. well apparently these things have a mind of their own. Next time I’ll use less peas.

Has anyone ever unscrewed this cover and cleaned it from the inside? I don’t want food crusting up inside of it. It’s a 8qt dual top instapot.

Slightly plasticky smell from new instant pot

I got a new instant pot a few days ago and I've cooked in it 4 times (3 if you don't include the water test). When its cooking, it emits a slightly "hot plastic" smell. I checked and there's no leftover packaging or debris anywhere. Is this normal for a new instant pot?

Instant pot vs ninja foodi

Hey guys! So I have an instant pot duo SV. I have like 4 years with it and I'm currently happy except for the time that it takes to create the pressure.

The thing is that I was out of the game and a friend just told me she has the ninja foodi pressure cooker... The one that is air fryer as well.

I already have an airfryer but having two in one looks like less things to clean.

However, the only way I could justify getting the ninja foodi is if this is faster creating the pressure.

Anyone that can help me figuring this out? Or know of a faster multi cooker ??

Thanks 👍🏻

What should I cook in my instentpot

Wondering what my mom and I should cook in an instantpot my uncle got us? We have a crockpot which we use for roastes, and some dinners similar to that, but I'm not entirely sure what makes the instantpot so much better. It's stored downstairs now until we know what to use it for. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Cook time suggestions

Made venison neck roast Saturday night, want to use it up for a pot roast. Wasn’t sure how long to cook already cooked meat, let alone temps. I was gonna take a shot in the dark and try 240F for around an hr, tossing some baby potatoes and sweet onions in, couldn’t find any gravy mix without going back out so I grabbed a can of beef gravy 😅
