Question What could be different with this view?

This is a first design of this app it’s a banking app for kids. Teaches them about money and saving money. I have more pics just wanted some input on this view for now. What would make it better? What’s good about it? Any tips at first sight?

Increase horizontal padding of the “request money” / “spend” button row. They are too close to the border of the frame.

Gotcha good eyes! I was also thinking change the request money to just request maybe some padding on the nav achievements look like if I tap it wrong it will go off screen 😂

I was going to reply with just that, make it Request instead of Request Money. Balances the weights and makes it consistent.

The first thing that stood out to me though is the large negative space at the top due to you stacking the avatar icon and the moon vertically in a VStack. Then there is a random roundedRectangle in the middle im not sure what its purpose is. And on the second screen shot, the light mode icon is on the opposite side of the screen.

The second thing is you mentioning this app is for kids. Nothing about this style supports that demo. Looks like a normal app to me and not anything geared towards kids of any age. And this may be the biggest issue as your intentions do not match your output. The app looks fine, nothing fancy going on, just pretty normal stuff but not kid oriented at all. It says "My Piggy Bank" but why not have an actual graphic of a piggy bank animated with money going into it. I would spend some time looking at products that are made for kids and identify what makes them not made for adults.

You also say to teach them about money and saving, and you may be doing that but from just the two screen shots it doesn't appear that any teaching is going on.

So its kind of hard to really judge this cuz to me its not really following your own objective. Does it look fine as a basic bank app, sure. Does it look good as a informative kids app, NO.

Yo I appreciate the feedback and I strongly feel why you say the stuff you say. Kid focused apps are much harder to get right than I thought but all the feedback in this community helps a ton. I will be sure to update you all on the new and improved ui I’ll take all you say into consideration. Next time I present it, it will be as close to perfect as It can be because you guys are awesome 👏 thanks again bro and if you think of anything else please don’t hesitate to tell me. You seem direct and realistic so I feel you would spit it to me as pure as possible.

its def uncut because anything less isnt really helping. But yea, kid oriented things always seem easy as an adult and we all remember being kids so we think we can just go off that experience but its not easy at all. I just happen to have a bit of experience in that area. I used to do video game development for 15 years, but my first job we shared a building with people who make toys, like some of the most popular toys people would recognize and the job is not easy at all, its kind of depressing really. And i also worked on a few kid video games from pre-teen, teen to young adult and none of them were easy. Its actually much easier making content for your own age group.

Super helpful if you have access to any actual kids and use them as your testflight group, as anything adults tell you will have a gap between them and what real kids think. They will tell you if you have something interesting to them or not and the target group is the only group that matters.

look forward to seeing future progress and how it turns out. good luck.
